Having met him at M-B World in Brooklands a few years ago, that is very sad news indeed.

He never was granted the knighthood that IMHO He deserved

This is such sad news. John was a very quietly spoken and humble guy, which made him very likeable. He was very approachable with spectators, and above all, was a great champion on two and four wheels.

I feel even sadder that John had to witness his sonís death at Brands Hatch. Rip to both Surtees.
