The circus moves on to South America this week-end.
Usual guesses for top 10, pole, F/L.
Bonus question:
Not how many cups of coffee will be drunk by all the teams over the week-end but.....
How many pit-stops will be made in total by the 3 drivers who are on the podium at the end-of race celebrations (ie not affected by any post-race alterations by stewards or the FIA, but the 3 that are seen to take their places at the trophy presentation)?  This includes stops to change/repair bodywork as well as tyre changes, but not stops/drive-throughs for steward-imposed penalties.

eg All drivers in the race make 2 tyre change pit-stops and 3rd place driver also makes a separate stop to change a broken front wing AND tyres, and is the only driver to make an additional stop. Post-race (and post-presentation and press interviews), third-place driver is disqualified: Answer = 7

Wit hall the "PodiumGate" shennanigans (?) at the last race, it's getting difficlut sometimes to take account of what could happen post-chequered-flag

.....and I don't know anyone who would be in the Padock to count the empty cups; I couldn't really trouble Lawrence Barretto to do that

Currently this is bollocks. 2nd red flag. It's raining; this is the test of the drivers FFS.

All the red flags and safety cars were ridiculous, thankfully I wasn't able to start watching it until 7pm.  The last few laps were a great consolation!   Verstappen was absolutely fantastic, such a shame he didn't stick with the wets and finish 2nd and Lewis drove brilliantly.

Today illustrated the very worst and the very best of Formula 1. I was under the impression that after the Safety Car start of the British GP, more consideration was to be given to trying to have a standing start in wet conditions. They bottled it again, but even worse, they delayed the start by ten minutes…that allowed the track to get even wetter. It was blatantly clear it wasn’t going to stop raining, so the red flag stoppages was also precisely the worst thing to do – the cars themselves are the best way of dispersing water. IMO, it’s more dangerous to dither about and leave the SC circulating for many laps because the water doesn’t get dispersed. Then they’re released and someone crashes - what a surprise. It was always going to be dangerous, but it would have been less dangerous if the second red flag hadn't been issued, the cars would have lifted off the water and the conditions therefore would have been safer.

I’m sure Charlie Whiting and co will say they had to take into account the evidence in front of them, but in recent years the same thing keeps happening – unnecessary SC starts and such lengthy SC periods that the track actually becomes ready for intermediates. Today I don’t believe Silverstone 2008 or Fuji 2007 would take place, which wasn’t that long ago.

At least in my lifetime, I don’t think I’ve genuinely been frightened by the conditions in an F1 race. That run from the final turn, up the hill and to the pit straight looked properly hairy. Some drivers were barley on the throttle when they crashed. Raikkonen’s crash was awful and could have been a lot worse; he aquaplaned in a straight-line and ended up disabled, backwards towards oncoming cars. Econ in the Manor just about darted out of the way in time. Somebody was holding up a pitboard just as Raikkonen hit the pit wall with debris flying about, that person got away lucky. Similarly, Massa’s crash caused debris to go over the Armco just where marshals were standing.

There were a few odd situations out there. Firstly, I feel for Ricciardo getting the five-second penalty for entering the pits when it was closed. Unlike the pit exit, the pit entry hasn’t got lights. There should be a visual reference for drivers if the pits close, regardless of how unlikely the scenario is. NASCAR has a red light on pit entry and it’s fairer for drivers.

Secondly, the celebrations for Massa in the pits were very nice…but that happened during the race itself. It would have been tight if other cars were coming.

Verstappen was just masterful, both his car control and overtaking was astonishing. The intermediate tyre might have worked if it wasn’t for the significantly wet pit straight. Anything gained in the middle sector would all be lost because the tyres’ shallower grooves simply couldn’t shift the excess water whilst climbing the hill.

Would Rosberg be a deserving champion? Well on the final restart, Hamilton pulled out an 11 second lead on Rosberg after the final restart. Rosberg also got passed by Verstappen and would have finished behind him if it wasn’t for Red Bull’s intermediate tyre blunder. He simply isn’t as good as Hamilton in the wet, and I believe he just isn’t as good as Hamilton period.

Just watched the highlights, Max was on a different level to everyone else. Reminded me of Senna at Donington in 93 (iirc).

I wonder how much of Max's antics were skill and how much was just sheer youthful bravado. I'm not sure if an older and slightly more experienced driver would have done what he did. Glad it all worked out though.

He's apparently been quoted as saying it was 50/50.

Not had a chance to see any of the race yet as dad is now gravely ill and I've had to dash over to parent's house Saturday and Sunday.  Mum is in a right state now that the end seems inevitable to her

The 50/50 comment related to catching the spin and not hitting the wall.

Verstappen had shiny newer tyres, a decent set-up and nothing to lose. That doesn't detract from the theatre of it but I don't think he'd be like that if the title were on a knife edge.

On to Rosberg, yes he's nowhere near Hamilton and never was or will be. But in the last 2-3 races and again next time out he has everything to lose and psychologically that's hard. I read on the BBC that there is a gulf in class between Hamilton and Rosberg. How apt, both inside and out if the car.
