That's the abbreviated version of the model!!!

The Nissan has had a 'failed to proceed' moment so I got the chance to try out their breakdown cover and get a courtesy car.
Nissan assured me I would get a like for like car or as close as possible so apparently a 370z = a diesel auto Vauxhall.

Still, it's better than the bus.

Anyway, what to say about the Insignia?
It's inoffensive, quite, refined and absolutely not crashy over bumps - I deliberately went through a few potholes to see.
It's quick enough initially but runs out of steam pretty quickly. The 5,500 rpm redline is clearly optimistic as it changes up at 4,500 on full throttle and even holding it in 3rd gear at one point it only got to 4950. In its defence it only had 4k miles on the clock so probably has some loosening up still to do.

The interior was reminiscent of my dads 11 plate Meriva and it was easy enough to work everything. I was surprised to see a graphic with all 4 tyre pressures noted and was hoping for an opportunity to nail it down a backroad to see how hot I could get them but as I only managed 60 miles in 3 days the opportunity never appeared.
I managed to get the economy down to 36.9mpg which might be good for a courtesy car but is piss poor considering I didn't boot it and on the same commute the Nissan is getting nearly 28.

One thing I couldn't put up with was the seating position, I just never got comfortable. The seat height only appears to adjust at the front, not the rear. Also the seat adjustment is manual apart from the lumbar support which is electric. Weird.
Finally I noticed the kick plates on the door sills proudly stated 'OPEL' but the car was clearly badged a Vauxhall.
Weird again!

The new Insignia has to be due any time now? I always quite liked the Insignia but I've never been in one. A VXR would of course be quite good fun...

Except that unless they fixed the driving position for it you'd spend all your time fidgeting and forget to enjoy the drive!!
