Kidnapped apparently. I bet he's kicking himself he never tried that with Slavica during the divorce.

All in all Brasil looking good as a place to visit....

I saw that on the Beeb website.
I can't believe the kidnappers are aiming so low - only asking for $36.5 Million (why not at least round it up to $40M?).

The world really is turning to shit. Now a priest killed in a hostage situation in a French Church!

Glad I am watching the Olympics from my own front room.

They want not $, and have asked for 28m, in 4 bags of cash so I assume they've worked out a beaten-up VW T2 will take 7m in 1p coins at a time, and they have 4 of them!

They wanted 25m but Bernie is another victim of the post Brexit currency crash.

Does anyone else see a flaw in this business model of kidnapping Mother-in-Laws? You kidnap 100 MILs and send out the ransom notes - how many are you going to get paid? 3? 4? at most. The rest you'd probably have to pay to return them.

I can't see Bernie coughing up 27m without ensuring that he gets it back together with a few trophy body parts from the perpetrators!

I also can't see the perpetrators allowing the MiL to go free after the payment of a ransom given the amounts involved and the serious personal risk.

This isn't going to end well for the MIL or the perpetrators IMHO.

In theory its a flaw but if Mrs Ecclestone is close to her mum she may threaten him with the removal of bedroom privileges or something similar if he doesn't pay up.

Maybe its all a ploy to get some cash out of him prior to a divorce, I expect the wife will have had to sign a very limiting pre-nup.

This is Ecclestone: he's probably told the wife she can pay or if he does she owes it to him.

Bernie is bound to have a few friends in Brazil who can help him out. MIL will be fine, kidnappers less so.

So they let her go for free: someone in that caper suffered an ordeal and it may not have been the kidnapped party. Loving that Bernie offered a private security firm to the Brasilian police to help "sort the kidnappers out".
