Apart from some dirty black clouds appearing just before the Eurofighter arrived, I braved the upcoming downpour and got pretty wet whilst watching it.

Apart from that, a great day. Will people ever tire of seeing the following? I don't think so.

Yes that is James May!

Some terrific shots again Andy. Had to google N500 - never knew Sopwith had made a triple decker!

Some really great shots there but it looks like the sensor needs a good clean :-(

Very true . Gonna look at that as I've never had it cleaned .

I've also been thinking about upgrading my trusty old 6mp d40 body,
So will look at some prices whilst I'm there

I went from a D40 (which I loved) to a 2nd hand D90 which I love even more. They can be had for under 250 quid now. Performance and handling that is hard to beat at the price and compatible with your current lenses.

It's been way too long since I went to an air show...

D90 is ace - it's my last camera body I reckon, as for the level I dabble at it's more than enough.

Re the pics - I really hope the Vulcan can make it up here at some point this year - it couldn't make it to East Fortune last year due to going tech on the morning of the show. Fingers crossed for this time ...

Farnborough show next month, just down the road from where I live but the entrance fees are exhorbitant* again.  May have to seek out a viewing point closer than my house !

* Just checked and it's £45 to get in !

Great shots!

Was also thinking of going to Farnborough but it's bloody expensive.

Great stuff, where is Cosford?

I would really like to visit an airshow soon - I have been saying this for years - the crowds at Farnborough do not appeal, but I must research others. I used to live near Biggin Hill so did that annually as a kid, and also USAF Bentwaters sometimes (then an A10 base, now disused - ironically I drove in trackdays there a decade ago!).

A decent mix of WW2 stuff would be perfect for me, I must look into relatively local shows with that mix - any suggestions? Yeovilton is presumably very busy too...

Thanks for the comments. Sorry about the mish mash order , it took me long enough to upload them !

Cosford is an RAF Base near Wolverhampton. It's not bad value at £20 consider what you see (highlight by far was the vulcan doing a spiral climb- youtube it with your speakers on )

These days, that's quite good value for money.
At £20 I'd definitely be going to Farnborough, at £30 I'd probably go but at £45, no way.  I might get the train to Aldershot (it's better value than driving and paying to park!) and go to the top floor of one of the multi-storey carparks which offers a very good view of the flying displays.

UK airshow debut of the F35 at the Fairford Tatoo so could be worth a visit. Pricey to get in mind.

I've just ordered a d5200.

So if anyone wants a D40 ?!   (Obviously I will get the sensor cleaned before I sell it )

Some great photos and glad you only got wet the once.

Cosford is well worth a visit. They also have the RAF mueum there.

It was Welshpool airshow last weekend and we could see the Typhoon do the fast climb part of its routine from home, and the Red Arrows passed overhead on their way into the show.

I'd love to see the Red Arrows replace their Hawks with Typhoons....
