20.36secs. And a big black cloud of soot to boot. |
I will have to give that a go sometime, I have booked another session at my local airfield for next week...
I will make sure I use the right gear too, though in mine I can only hit 100mph in 5th! (4th will only run to 99mph) _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |

Its a smouldering time that I think people will really sturggle to beat, especially the likes of Nick and Tweflth in their tarted up Beetles and Audi S-Lines (Respectively).
So, the time, a mind blowing earth shattering and universe warping time of:
20.36secs. And a big black cloud of soot to boot.
It needs a service (Genuinely is does) plus 5th is a very tall gear. If I dropped to Fourth and hoofed it I reckon it would see it in about 16/17secs. |

30-100 through the gears, 16 secs
50-100 through the gears, 14 secs
30-120 through the gears, 30 secs........
One video taken a while ago on a private track, so I've guesstimated from the clock on it. _________________

'Through the gears' What on earth does that mean? I'm taking it you mean blasting it through the gears and giving it 'Full noise' as you blast past these increments of speed.
Are we gonna decide what's what...in 2009 in the speed stakes?
Stay steady at a certain speed or blast through the gears?
I've a shift light (For optimum performance)..althrough I've very rarely had them light up....Don't need too!

I'm going to quote myself from earlier in the thread
| Quote: | I don't have a stop watch - I used the time code on the video which is only in whole seconds - although I did say it was four and a bit rather than 4 seconds dead.
Quibbling over accuracy in this thread is a daft for 2 reasons :
1) Without a Racelogic V-Box GPS unit, confirming the exact speed and time taken to accelerate between speeds is impossible.
2) Not everyone has posted a video - so a few timings have the potential to be even more inaccurate than those based on video footage.
If you want to make this as meaningful as possible - then only video submissions should be accepted and the timing based on video footage should be carried out by a single adjudicator.
|
So - we should start a brand new thread, and only allow the submission of video entries - which are then timed by 2 independent witnesses before the agreed time goes into a leader board. No video - no place on the leader board. _________________ Previous convictions :

I should think that we'll all quite aware of what a standard car would post, having read umpteen car mags..so anyone 'offering' silly times would be 'called' on that claim...quite a few here run..'may I say?'A little fettled cars...
I'm sure if you stuck 4lbs of Semtex up the rear chuff of my car it'll never match the times posted by The Doc, Frankie.........and 12th.
For me it was never about what it'll post against the other guys..although I'd be gutted if I was the slowest..I nearly was in 5th!!
I'm this week about to post the times of my newest barge ...a Corsa!
Pssh!
It's only fun.

| 17.5secs for the 50-100 dash using 4th and 5th. Seemed about right on my guess from the other week. Needs a service mind. |

Those turbo things work quite well don't they?
It is interesting that 3rd in your Sierra is similar to 4th in mine in that it won't quite reach 100!
I must have a go at the 60-100 increment sometime... _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |

Actually, it will do over a 100 in 3rd as it revs higher than a std one ( still making power up to 7k ).....but it's only a little quicker.
My friend's was more impressive - just a smidge over 4...but he has a few more POWAS than me |

Talking of performance timing, has anyone with an I-phone tried the Dynolicious App at £7/8 or whatever it costs? Seemed to get a good review in the 'Garage 419' clip where they tried it against the drag strip timing.
Be good to see one of the mags like Autocar or EVO put it up against the VBOX or whatever they use and verify how accurate it can be |
