| Quote: | | Piquet Jnr received the backing of Lewis Hamilton, a sign that the 24-year-old Brazilian's peers on the grid are comfortable with his potential return to the sport. |
Of course they don't mind - he's cannon fodder as far as they are concerned!
I was of the opinion that he could have developed into a half-decent driver had things gone differently. But they didn't, and the results just don't justify another chance. I'd have said he was more or less unemployable in F1 before 'Crashgate'; he's seriously deluded if he thinks he's got a snowflake's chance in hell now.
I'm sure he'll do fine in the IRL. _________________ "Racing is life. Everything before and after is just waiting." Steve McQueen |

I agree with that ^^^^^^
I think we've seen the last of Piquet Jr in an F1 car. _________________

| He may have been treated badly by Renault, but you can't use that to explain away how badly he did. If he'd made all those mistakes but been Hamilton-quick, or at least been consistent without blowing away the grid on pace, he might have been worth perservering with, but he was abjectly hopeless. |

Whilst he didn't set the grid on fire nor show any flashes of outstanding talent you have to question whether or not he could with another team. After all the guy leading the championship looked shit whilst driving for Briatore alongside Alonso didn't he? Has he not made a decent fist of it the year before at Williams would Button have been given another chance elsewhere? _________________ Scouse

| It's cost Renault big money now. ING have terminated their contract with immediate effect and another sponsor did the same earlier today. |

Button never did drive alongside Alonso - Alonso replaced him. And Button did OK in his second year at Renault. |

| I was interested to read that the FIA's counsel, during the hearing, accidentally referred to the Renault whistleblower not as 'Witness X' but as 'Witness A'. Not surprisingly, this has caused some speculation as to whether the 'A' might have been his initial, even though the obvious candidate was cleared of any involvement. |

Interesting to note that all the mechanics and drivers still have ING sponsorship on their overalls.
Wonder how that'll have gone down with Alonso appearing on the podium.
As a non-related note, is Romain Grosjean 12 years old (he certainly looks it)? |

Chez Autocar, Renault seems to be suggesting it won't quit F1... _________________ "Accident Blackspot"? These aren't accidents. They're throwing themselves into the road gladly. Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness.'
