Bought the latest edition of Motorsport and one Andrew Frankel writes a column about current cars.

There's a small block where he gives the MiTo a quick review and, shock, horror, he actually quite likes it.

I've checked the page thoroughly for a note that he's on holiday and some one else is filling in for him but no, it looks like those words came from his own pen.

I'm astonished.

I spoke to Andrew Frankel at Goodwood this year. Decent enough bloke, although he laughed when I suggested swapping my 'Mighty' Avis Astra for his Lexus LF-A.
I was being serious...

I like it, maybe not enough to 'want' one but there you go.

Lots in Manchester, appears to be the perfect car for Alfa dealers until the TBi and new diseasils arrive.

I like it, have seen a couple on the road now. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a GTA...

The more I see it the less I like it.  It looks like a Bravo from the rear and the front is just ugly.

A GTA version might right the wrongs...maybe.

I love it - one came towards me last night and the front lights are very elegant.

I thought they were bringing out a 5dr at some point but there's not a sniff of it; shame, as 3dr cars are fooking useless.

We've just ordered one to replace the MX5 of the missus. A Veloce 155 in Grey with Red leather. Can't wait.

Cheers guys, just  a shame we have to wait till October. It could be even longer knowing Alfa and the Italians love of a good summer holiday.

October eh, does this mean it will be MultiAir? rumour has it they are out in September - though that's probably not a UK launch date.

Not a Multiair no. I was tempted to wait until the new engines were out but Alfa have put prices up £600 this week on the Mito and another price rise by the end of the year is also planned so you would have had to pay at least a grand over the old engines. If we P-ex the MX5 out of the summer months it would also be a lot less so we would then have to wait till April next year. Her MX5 also needed about a 1k spending at the next service so I thought we might as well get on with it.

Fair enough, given that scenario I would have done the same.

First one appeared in our office cp the other day. Joins (besides mine on occasion) two Breri and a 159 with at least 4 147's.

It's yellow though and it just doesn't suit it. The black (Etna) which is actually more Aubergine the Grey and the red look best.

True, there are very few cars that can handle yellow, and the Mito isn't one of them.

I can just imagine one in yellow with red leather. I wonder who among us would order that?

For a second, I thought the World Health Organisation had announced that all their staff would now be driving Mito's.

I like the MiTo, but I've discovered there's no Alfa dealers in the West of Scotland at the moment (Boxer 6 -  you were right about Arnold Clark losing the franchise). The nearest dealer is about 50 miles away at Western Alfa in Edinburgh, although they will soon be opening a 'satellite' dealership in Glasgow.

Ah, I wouldn't order a MiTo in any colour!

If I could have a new Fiesta in lime green with white leather then that would be OK

I think the Mito interior actually looks much better than expected and I think that is selling it. The sports seats in the one I peered into recently (it was in a car park) looked excellent.

My next car will be either lime/mint green.

Or Orange.

I have the full backing of the Fuhrer on this too.

Are you taking the biscuit

We have the delicate problem of parting with the fortwo before I vaguely consider what to replace the GTA with.

Seriously I like the looks of the Me too, not sure about the rest as not looked closely or driven one.

I've suddenly started seeing loads of them on the road now.

Not too sure about the looks from the front but the interior is certainly a nice place to be.

For around £14k though I'd still be hunting out a GT V6.
