As Pkh has got his now, thought I'd start a post on the non-Ford bits!

Anyone collapsed after reading the Veyron running costs article?!!

Liked the S4/335i/EvoX article - not surprised at the verdict though ....and it still puts me off autoboxes after some of the comments

Interesting for me was the Veyron vs GT-R through Mid Wales article. Seems the GT-R is too much on the road for even a Veyron. Familiar pic of the 4212 on pages 88/89 ( like to see the pace they were stomping along there at! )

Positive reaction to the Insignia VXR as well. Shame the brake pads(?) or set-up not as impressive as on paper

Yep - always knew it was an over-rated bag of bollocks. It's not a completed car - "owners" are just paying for the final testing, with bespoke parts, and clearly big worries over durability. £13k for the first service. Four tyres have to be bought -  at £6325 EACH (FFS!) - every 2500 miles and the wheels need to be changed every third tyre change - for THIRTY FUCKING GRAND.

It's not a car - it's a NASA rocket with costs like that. What a total and utter joke - even among exotica it's just utter nonsense.

Those Veyron running costs redefine the term 'eye-watering'.

I'm with ALF.  That's just mental.

To be fair, that's on a par with my last service on the Sportka SE at Archers of Ashby...

You could say the tyres hold up well against the Autocar Focus RS, but £6,325 each? How much are tyres on an F1 car?

As for the wheels...that's a worry. They don't check them, just replace them? £7.5k a corner...what are they made of?

I can almost understand the servicing costs though. As long as they polish the car with lark's tongues and fill the washer bottle with tears from a kitten.

I wonder what a new headlamp, mirror and side window costs on a Veyron.

Though surely the need to replace the tyres depends on how the car is driven?

I think even if I was a millionaire I wouldn't yearn to own a Veyron. I'd like a drive of one but I'd be happy with a GT2 RS and F40 for supercar kicks

Yes, i was thinking quite reasonable compared to the cost of a cam belt service from your average Subaru stealership.

See, if you had a Scooby with a proper engine in it, you wouldn't need a cambelt change!!!

I'm sure the running costs of a Veyron to the owners, is very much like the running costs of say...? A boggo Astra to us mere mortals.

Frigging eye watering prices though!

Go to HDC Subaru in Halifax. Cost me 140 quid for my Legacy.

The Muira in evo is the same one that we saw at Prescott this year.  Looked chuffing lovely there.

According to the evo article, it was first owned by Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath - except evo thinks he's the bassist, when actually his axe has six strings.

It's enough to drive him Paranoid, I'd reckon.

I've learned something new today then!  I've seen five-stringed basses but never knew they made 'em with six.

Still, some other Geezer is the Sabs' bassist though

A five-stringed bass adds a lower string; six-string adds an upper string. Means you can play chords and riffs and shit.

5 string bass = heavy as fook. My still-rumoured Industrial Doom Metal band started with a 5 string bass and my Yamaha Drop6.

I imagine you would need hands like shovels to play a 6 string bass.

Six is so last millenium, this lot make 7 and 8 string basses
http://www.conklinguitars.com/groove_tools.html

Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam plays a 12 string but with 4 sets of 3 strings - 1 normal bass string and 2 and octave up in each set.

I'm fairly sure that F1 tyres don't cost £6k apiece.

Why do you have to replace the wheels every third tyre change?
