I think Alfas had 5 speed boxes in the late '60s but I suspect the Maxi was the first mainstream car to have one.
Mind you, my parents have tales of woe about them all having a missing gear - both our burgundy one and our neighbour's identical one would regularly fail to select a particular gear (not the same one either!).

Ours had black vinyl seats which was a particular danger to a 6 year old on a hot summers day.

A large-ish five door family hatchback, with lots of interior space and a five speed box, when everybody else was still riding around in Vauxhall Vivas and Ford Cortinas. Way ahead of its time and should have been a success, but was poorly executed and poorly built.

One of the big problems with the Maxi was it looked like it was a car from the 60 (which it was) and Ford was producing very 70's "coke-bottle" styled Cortinas which looked good and had a wide range of trim levels to suit all tastes and budgets. The Maxi looked like its old maiden aunt in comparison.

That's probably the only way of refurbing diamond cut wheels unless you have a lot of money.

They should be epoxy finished. I have an issue with the alloys on the Galaxy which have all been kerbed by the previous owner or else oxidised over time, as the lacquer does not adhere very well to the diamond machined finish.

Proper refurb costs almost as much as a new alloy; strip, clean and paint with epoxy is significantly cheaper, but the end result doesn't look quite right.   For now, I'm leaving them as they are :-(

It might just be the primer before he puts the top coat of black hammerite on them!

I've just used some last week to paint my garden gates.  I seem to recall painting my Fourtrak wheels with silver Hammerite back in about 1996.

That wasn't unusual when all cars came with steel wheels.

For a car that has covered only 79k, the interior looks completely shagged. That and the wheels = run away.

There's an Audi A6 near us in Jewish Racing Gold, with bright blue wheels. I just cannot fathom the thinking behind that.

I saw a black early noughties vintage Passat yesterday with bright green BBS style wheels sticking out about two inches from the arches, with the tyres basically smeared between the rims (no sidewall to speak of) and clearance you'd have struggled to slide a waffer thin mint into. Blarno would have loved it.

Is it slightly furry in finish? And in any case how many other colours of black can you get?

I'd be worried that the engine has "been built with a Piper 285 Camshaft along with a Piper High Rev anti pump lifters"

I think you might need 2 of the first item and 16 of the second!

Nope, the Rover V8 is a single camshaft engine with it mounted in the middle of the V.  It does use 16 lifters and pushrods though.

470bhp from a naturally aspirated Rover V8 is an impossibility too.

Easy to spot in the car park.

It's been said elsewhere that the seller doesn't get to choose how the options appear on these adverts but it still must be annoying when the first three things which come up for a car like this are:

Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, Parking Sensor, Start/Stop Function

Very important to the target audience I'm sure!

Good to know that the "privet plate" is not included:

Was there really only one red M5 sold in the UK ?
