I enjoyed the Z4 vs 370z "sketch", and also the SIARPC, but the rally challenge left me cold.  While they were playing it straight it was fine, but the set-ups and staged jokes are becoming tiresome.

A reasonable episode. Nothing special.

I do prefer the Z4 over the Nissan. I never liked the 350Z anyway. If driving simulations are anything to go by (not sure if that's an accurate barometer to judge) the Nissan is a monster to drive and just snap its tail out for no bloody reason.

The challenge was dumb but really funny.

SIARPC should really be scrapped. Really.

A bit of a light episode really, Brian Johnson apart.

I wish they had smashed the classic cars up, would have made that segment more interesting. Even boob shots didn't help that one.

Looking forward to 5th Gear tonight*, to see the old skool Cosworth.

*something I never thought I'd say as long as the hairy bellends are presenting it.

Yeah - I thought Brian Johnson was the best guest they've had on TG. He's also dead right about that road off the A69 at Haydon Bridge leading to the Lakes. There's a load of great roads out that way.

Loved the VXR8 Bathurst and the Maloo. Both completely batshit mental and the noise from the Bathurst was borderline musical.

VW ad bit was tedious, crap and obviously scripted.

Jay Leno seemed like a decent chap and a proper petrolhead for once.

Shit ending to the series, must try harder.

I thought it was pretty much crap from start to finish.  The ending was interesting and thought provoking, but far too arty and not enough information.  If it wasn't for the sound of that V12, it would have been a really poor end to what has been quite a lightweight series.

Jay Leno must have been a bit gutted.  For a man with his motoring experience, it was a very poor time.  The same as Will Young

Really, I thought the Bathurst sounded shit. Like an out of tune set of bagpipes were atached to the exhaust system. I really don't like the whine form supercharges.

The ending was complete bollocks - how on earth does a 510 bhp £140k Aston mark the end of something when Jaguar have just launched a 510 bhp saloon that costs £60k and BMW are about to launch a 550 bhp M5 ??.

I wasn't that impressed with the sound of the Aston, although I think it's the way Top gear record it. They made the V8 vantage sound weird as well.

It wasn't great but then I watched a Filth Gear over the weekend, so I'm not going to grumble too much.

The supercharger on the Bathurst sounded dreadful.

At first I thought the Bathurst sounded great, 3 seconds later I was thinking how incredibly annoying it was.

Agreed it was a bit of a damp squib to end the series on.

The Bathurst sounded terrible. I thought they'd dubbed the Stig's bagpipes over the wrong part of the film.
Very fast, and great value for money, but if Clarkson reckons the Focus RS is loutish, the Bathurst is ten times worse.
I hoped there would be something more interesting on the Jay Leno bit, but was disappointed.
I never thought I'd get sick of seeing power oversteer in fast cars on every show, but for once I'd like to see them drive normally on the track.

As a series, it's lost it's sparkle.
I hope they revitalise it for the next series or change the format.

Have to agree about the powersliding. If you took the test of the MGZT V8 from 5 years ago and played the VXR8 bit from last night I doubt there were any differences from the script.

The track " road tests " are the worst part of the show, they are so bloody boring. Whereas a well filmed piece set in rolling countryside or across some snakey roads never gets old.

I think Top Gear is due a major rethink, the studio pieces are lame, the cool wall has had it's day and star in a shit box is a waste of 5 minutes - at the very least they should change the car for something much quicker and then we would really see who can handle a motor - an M3 should do the trick.

The problem is what can you do with the format ?, what I want to see in a 1 hour motoring show is not what eleventy million mouth breathers want to see - they want cocking around, piss weak jokes and empty headed, tedious little piss buckets like Hammond on their screen. The minute you make the show more acceptable to people who like cars is the minute the BBC shoot their golden goose in the face - with a shotgun loaded with nails and glass.

Last night's episode was pretty dire, apart from Jay Leno. Mrs DB is watching less and less, so it's obviously losing its general appeal as an entertainment show that just happens to have cars in it as well.

Maybe the next series could have an ongoing feature with James May trying to get Oz Clarke to appreciate cars?

An inverse episode. For once the guest was better than the other stuff.

It was mostly tedious shit. The VW ad feature especially was just them being stupid for the sake of it. Although James' final product was actually a bit interesting.

The Aston part, what was that all about?

Jay Leno is a legend.

Mclaren F1 owner Jay Leno referred to "David Steven"
Scirocco Tv ad - one of the worst pieces of TV i have ever seen- only the bikini blonde was  all too brief highlight.

Recorded Top Gear, watched the Bathurst and Maloo bits twice, loved the split screen laps so you could compare the speed ( although they both looked to clock an almost identical lap there was a second between them? )
Seemed more interesting perhaps as there were a few at the Breakfast Club in the morning and I do like them ( even when they do get crossed up on the m'way slip road in front of you    )

Watched the ending bit, nice roads and filming, but I'd rather have had the Aussie cars than the Aston.....although I'm sure the new one is better than the one I drove.

Fast forwarded the rest in a blur of 32x images

Not convinced on the advertising bit though the boys loved it.

I think they could be right on the "death" of the Supercar/large engined car.

Bathtust good and Leno is the ultimate celebrity petrolhead - he shows up at lots of shows that get featured in the mags I buy.

Agreed

You do know they don't 'real time' compare the lap, instead show the two cars on the same point in each lap?  The other week they did teo more cars that crossed the line at the same video point but had a few seconds difference - think of it as a TG race; artistic license being abused!

Talking of artistic, one thing TG does better than pretty much any TV programme is the video-work be it tracking or arty-stuff.

The split screen with the fat Focus and the Renault made of shopping bags was the same. They looked like they were at the same place but they weren't. Prefer the Fifth Gear method where they overlay one on t'other.

Crikey. I loved the final Aston piece without JC blithering on. Who else has read across the net that this might be the end of the current TG presenter line up.

That Maaloooo could seriously bugger someone up at a TLGP.

That's people making assumptions because Jezza said "This feels like an ending"

Facebook nearly went into meltdown, people thinking TG was going off air forever. Won't happen for a long time, I reckon.

I realise it isn't going off air, just that maybe they need a shakeup in the presenter dept. This has to be the worst series yet it just seems to stumble with one episode having a truely cracking feature to another where it's mind numbingly boring.

New series starts this Sunday. Apparently May turns a caravan into an airship and the 3 of them are taking some old banger 4x4s into the Peruvian jungle. Could be interesting.

Distinct improvement on previous series - bit more of a back to basics episode - liked the Romanian road trip

I thought it was a good episode. I liked Eric Banner, a real mans man if ever there was one. The footage of his rallying crash was excellent, must have hurt a bit.

The road trip was another good one I thought, the road at the end looked utterly amazing. Lucky buggers!

I saw the Eric Bana DVD in the supermarché today. JC is in it, so no wonder he plugged it!
