M Performance exhaust on a diesel?

I presume it came as part of the M Performance pack, surely nobody would've specced that separately on a diesel?
I wasn't conscious of it adding anything to the volume at idle either. I'll have to get Mrs Tim to do a drive-by at some point to listen!

I'll be going to a nearby BMW emporium to see about a warranty.

The salesman showed us the on-board servicing history which is quite a nice feature and it confirmed the brakes all round are brand new with, apparently, 60k miles of life in them!

In all honesty, I didn't think BMW did an M Performance exhaust for the diesels.

They don't but the previous owner could have had the finisher/tip changed.

If you go on the configurator and tick the M Performance package for the current version of that car then the exhaust gets a twin pipe exit.
Dunno if that would've been the case 3 years ago though.

Didn't Racing get the exhaust separately on his car?

I think it is just the cosmetic adding of a second tailpipe and nothing that changes performance. All the more recent MSports have the twin tailpipe but the earlier ones had just the single pipe which didn't look great.

I don't expect it to add performance but I agree it looks better than the single pipe.

That does look fantastic although I have to admit I know nothing about current bikes. Is that an MV Agusta or don't they call them that anymore?

I had a friend who had an MV Agusta in the 90's (pretty boring looking bike) and it wasn't exactly new then. Unfortunately he died about 15 years ago when he didn't make a bend.

Still MV Agusta John.

Totally gorgeous and a total thief-magnet too!

I think current sports bikes all look the same

One of my mates recently restored his dad's 1980s MV Agusta. Not sure about the model, etc but it's a 'naked' type.

You are jaded. The current BMW RR is based on Munich taking a Fireblade RR6 and a Gixer Thou K6 apart and making the ideal bike (the Yam R1 had a five valve engine and the Kawasaki was a hideous lorry as they all are so they didn't make it) so yes, the biggest selling bike looks like others. The current Blade has a really short and slim tail section and a snub nose, making it look different to the R1 (and the BMW and the Suzi). It was despised when released because it was not as pretty as the RR6 and lost the ultra-cool under seat exhaust. The MV has a very sculpted tank and nicely detailed rear seat, two things I tend to look for on a bike (my 5EY R1 has that same look).

I'll admit if bikes were all black and de-badged many non-fan boys would struggle to tell them apart but I don't think a skinny little Ducati looks like an elephant-man Kawasaki.

Remember the Java Green E92 M3 I wanted?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201611250090147

As it's only moved about 20 miles west I assume it's the same one. Not sure how it's now more expensive than a year ago, though.

Still want it.

Volvo? Sensible? 300bhp? That'll do.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/class...ert/201611199916745?atmobcid=soc3

I've got a real hankering for one of these. There's a dealer in Scotland who seems to be snapping them up from Japan.

I love everything about this apart from the price. †Full fat M5 (competition pack, sports exhaust etc) with B&O speakers, voodoo lights and a fantastic interior. † Pretty much everything is covered in leather and it has some really nice detailing, like the contrast stitching around the door pockets.

Surely no-one would think there was a market to make money on a car that is just about to be superseded even though it is the special edition. I agree it is a beautiful car with almost every conceivable extra but the price is crazy.

No, that one seems to be a UK car. 6 months from now I may well be very tempted to swap the V50 for something like that.

I wouldn't have an issue with an imported Japanese spec V70R.

As for that M5.... lovely but WTF with regards the price. Insane.

You could have this with full leather:

http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/M/4.4-M...711-3497009.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

and a really nice Boxster for the same price!

Very nice, it's really difficult to find one with full leather.  I'd have an M6 GC with competition pack (for the exhaust not the extra power), ideally the LCI model as they have full Merino as standard.  £60k would get a nice one.

Yes I have a massive soft spot for the M6GC and the Competition ones are very well specced.

That just follows on from the conversation we're having elsewhere about silly prices being asked for stuff.
The seller has clearly looked at something like the Cayman GT4 pricing activity and thought this falls in the same league.

This is still for sale! They were originally asking the thick end of £100k for it last year...now asking £69k and I bet that's negotiable. Supposedly it cost £135k just 2k miles ago. Ouch.

Green is not really my colour but everything else about it I love. However even with wriggle room and £69K it's too rich for me. If I find £25K under the mattress perhaps!

I like these - I did have a fleeting moment looking at a local S60R in 2011 but bottled it, the Japanese ones seem to have shit wheels

Only downside for me is that it's an SE, but the upgraded wheels and sports seats help with that.

That was my thinking. It's quite nicely specced. I'm not, by the way, but next year I could be tempted by something like that!

Isn't that rather steep given that the offer that John (?) recently told us about for a brand new one has a GFV of £16k at 4 years old?
I also presume that one is less desirable due to being an SE rather than Sport.

But won't the dealer then add on a healthy mark up to retail it?

I'm sure I'll get used to it but I reckon if they're going to make the grille that wide they should make a single wide grille with a small pair of kidneys in the centre. I will also never need x-drive either, but I will definitely need a smaller turning circle than front wheel drive shafts will ever allow so RWD please. And Alpina parts in a Touring body.

A mate of mine is well into 80s tat and he is in the middle of doing a turbo one of these up. The hidden rot in the shell has to be seen to be believed.

If it's on a par with the Montego we had back then I can very well believe it without needing to see it!

He's sharp as a nail, that fella.

I'd love, for some inexplicable reason, a Mk1 XR2. Maybe something else a bit retro. Not sure on the non turbo Maestro though.

That is nice.

I'm sat in the indoor play place, ignoring the noise by browsing 80s and 90s cars on AT. Some very tempting stuff on there!!
