I saw a 520D being driven in my neighbourhood on Saturday as if it were an E30 M3. Whilst it no doubt had some poise, handling and decent accelerative powers it I still turned my head to see why a tug-boat was driving up Central Road....

I think this is the right place to put this one...

Followed a lowered and black-wheeled Nissan Primera SE+ yesterday of late 90's/ early noughties vintage with 'NPOC' sticker in the back window - interesting choice, but not exactly a crime in itself (despite being about 8" tall and right in the way of the rear view mirror), it had a git-plate of some nature (T-reg, can't remember the rest but it made no sense) but the biggest crime was the writing at the bottom of the numberplate 'Japanese Bentley'.

Er, no.  Driver was young-ish avec Beanie.  Weird all around methinks.

'Japanese Bentley'?

What an oaf.

I spotted one this morning in GBBs home turf of Olney (parked at the side of the pub opposite the square).

A fairly basic looking E46 estate with an M badge on the back and white alloy wheels....lovely.

Dacia Duster yesterday, complete with 4x4 badge (which looked like it came from Halfrauds!) and M-Power badge!

Bet that makes it shift a bit!!

Should an Audi RS3 - the 5 cylinder one - have a single oval exhaust on each side or does it have the same exit as a 2.0 TDI, i.e. twin pipes on the left only?

Two on the left, I think.  Have hardly seen any, so I wonder whether they sold like cold cakes.

They are like that on the RS3. There's one that lives a a few houses away in what I would have said was a sort of burnt orange colour that, but I've found out it is an Exclusive colour called Ipanema Brown. A snip at 1735!

This is it

As we all know,While the mobile phone brings great conveniences to people, it also raises new challenge on the security of confidential work. In recent years, the wiretap, cheating in examination, medical negligence and gas station explosion with mobile phone occurred and it has aroused great concern of the society. Maybe it's one of the reasons that promoted the appearance of mobile phone jammers. You may be watching a nice movie or enjoying your nap when you get free for sometime. Still you have chances of getting disturbed with your most loved ones and close friend chatting near you on the cell phone. At such hours, if you really care for your free time then you need to buy a cell phone jammer.

Spotted an E46 318ci earlier with the fabled M Power badge on the back. Felt sorry for the driver, it must have been embarrassing.

There's a white S3 I see periodically, with a single, suspiciously small tailpipe.

Do not pass go.  Do no collect 200.

E39 "M5".  Mmm.  The very dodgy looking M badge on the grille and single downturned exhaust pipe wasn't fooling me.

Old shape 1 series hatchback with M badges on it. It was parked on a corner on double yellow lines outside a Chinese takeaway when there were 2 parking spaces about 5 metres away. Obviously too far to walk?

The BMW was parked roughly where the blue Merc is driving and the spaces were in the row where the Focus estate is parked.

I saw a very clean blue Mark V Golf R32 heading towards me this lunchtime.  As it passsed, I heard the unmistakable cultured, multilayered burble of the, er, VAG 2.0 tdi unit.  It even had an R32 rear bumper, with the central exit cutouts, but no actual pipes to fill them.

Still, he can boast that his R32 gets 60mpg.

Thinking about the evo 911 thread, why is it OK to tart up a Carrera to look like a GT3, whereas making a normal 3-series look like an M3 is rightly ridiculed?

Well, obviously I don't think it is, but on the 997, you could buy most of the GT3 body bits as official options when ordering your Carrera.

I think the line is well and truly crossed when you add a GT3 badge, adding the body work is a grey area!

Did they make an X-Type Sovereign?  Or did rattly-boy simply attach a sticker to a very tractorish-sounding example?

No question needed of the 3.0 TDi Quattro A4, the TDi badge having been removed and replaced with a big red S.

They did make a 2.2D Sovereign, it was on our company car list at one point.

I saw a bright blue 2004 RS4 diesel (they'd left the tdi badge on!) on the M1 today, it had huge shiny exhaust pipes and wheel rims that were quite a lot wider than the tyres.

Those X Types are special. How Jag managed to make the Ford diesel engine sound miles louder in a car based on the Mondeo than the same engine in a Mondeo must have taken some great engineering. They sound hideous from outside.

If it isn't clear enough it is an "X6 M50d"

All the 'M Performance' models have a cheap looking M badge, which is similar to the one all 'M Sport' models have on the front wing. I have two if anyone wants them! They were on the front wings (in error) when mine was delivered, so I had them taken off.

There's an Impreza I see around he village which is obviously not possessed of any form of forced induction, but which has huge WRC addenda to both sun visors - both always in the 'display' position. I wonder who he actually fools.

A Z4 with 3.0T badging in two distinctly now-BMW fonts.

This 520d M sport had no other M5 addenda except the oddly misplaced badge on the bootlid. Odd.

There is an E46 estate round here that has been well and truly "dubbed" and as a result, has the most ridiculous camber on the rear wheels.
