Welcome Jack. Good to see the SportKa numbers increasing on the forum, we'll soon outnumber those pesky BMWs and Alfas. ..
Oh, and Skyhook - it's not often my taste is described as excellent, but I have to agree!

Thanks very much Skyhook!
If there is any confusion about my name and a car which doesn't have a Zetec engine in it that is because I joined this forum a while a go when I did have a zetec engined car![/img] |

I've never driven a SportKa - I have driven a boggo 1.25 litre version in the past, and thought it was largely utterly forgettable (I think, as i've mostly forgotten it).
As there are now 3 SportKa's on these here fora, they must be LOADS better than the bread and butter version????
Can't stand the looks, either, so wouldn't be seen dead in one. I know a car's shape is a subjective thing, and each to his own, etc, etc. Don't mean to offend!
Anyhoo, welcome to our new members - and another one from Scotland, I notice! _________________

The whole suspension/steering is heavily reworked compared to the standard version. My fiance drives the asthmatic pushrod engined Ka and I would agree about it being quite forgettable. The weighting and feedback of the steering in mine is much better I would say and although the higher power output does help things considerably I think another 20-30 bhp would make things much more interesting!
Nice to meet you TC |

I seem to recall a poll on the old Autocar forum asking which cars people would have, money no object, and Ford coming out on top. Granted, it probably included a lot of Ford GTs, but even so! _________________

I've now got 2 diesel cars - I wonder what the ratio between petrol/diesel is on the forum now?

I've been thinking that my laptop probably needs updating (it's a 2006 Acer Ferrari !!) and given that I can't find a car I want to buy, thought about getting a Macbook - mainly as I can't really justify a MacAir price-wise, and the Macbook Pro doesn't seem to get quite such good reviews.
I've never used a Mac before, ever, but I was contemplating popping in to the Apple store in Glasgow sometime soon, as they provide hands-on experience and free tutorials. Got to be worth a look, anyway. _________________ Just keepin' on keeping on. |

| It'll take you about ten minutes to figure out how it all works (and most of that is unlearning the convoluted procedures you've used with a PC) then you'll be away! Someone posted the scooter vs Kawa Ninja pic last week. More realistic is mk3 mx5 vs old souped-up TVR. Yes, the mx5 costs a lot more and goes slower. But going anywhere is a pleasure due to the handling (and it's only slow as compared to the silly stats on the TVR), plus you get there since it didn't break on the way. |

Yeah, where is Centurion? I grew up in Johannesburg.
(goes and looks it up)
Ah. Known to me as Verwoerdburg. I can't keep up with all the name changes over there. Sterkfontein Caves is nearby, yes? That was a typical school day trip in the 80s. I lived in Midrand for 10 years from '82 to '92. _________________ "Racing is life. Everything before and after is just waiting." Steve McQueen |

To answer a few questions:
Eff One- I live in Lyttleton, Centurion. Just of the N14 highway between Pretoria and Johannesburg. And Midrand is expanding like a city on its own!
Dan- Lived in the UK for 6 years (2001-2007) and was an Autocar subscriber for most of those years. Got the link to this site on the Autocar forum a year and a half ago. |

It was taken in early May sometime.
I'm another Mac user - an iBook G4.
It's 1000 times quicker at starting up and loading the web than Windows stuff but I miss simple things like Excel - although you can buy that stuff for the Mac it costs a fortune. |

Im Graham, 20 years old from Coventry (almost 21). Student at University of Teesside. Introduced to the forum by Andrew (AndyC). I drive an old mans car, a mint green Honda Jazz that was passed on to me from my Grandad (although it is the 'sport' version!). I have briefly met Colin and Piers at the Renault World Series event at Silverstone. I enjoy watching motor racing but not so much into how cars work or modifying them. Having said that I would love a fast car, just cant afford one. Enjoy things like karting, sports and one of my favourite hobbies is photography.
Here is a picture of me and my girlfriend taken last year in Florida:

Haha yeah if it were pink I'd be slightly embarrassed. I actually love my car though. Excellent little car in my opinion. Especially for driving to and from University. Would love a second car though for me pleasure driving. Miss having a manual at times but most of the time I love the ease of the Auto for city driving and such. _________________ Car: Honda Jazz, Camera: Sony a200 |
