Second hand Audi TT wheels. Far from perfect but OK until something better comes along.
I'm tempted to have a go at selling it TBH. It's looking good and if I could get top money for it........ _________________

Buggy won her class again this weekend, and finished with no major problems, so she's getting reliable at last.
Want to change the numberboard for something a bit better looking though, it's a bit ugly, any ideas?
Thought about a perspex one on the roof with a proper number sticker so it looks like it's floating above the car...? _________________

If you put it on the main part of the roof it'd look like a banger racer number.
How about making an aerofoil section across the top of it like F1 cars occasionally have? |

Well, Ed went to the event without me this weekend with the buggy (due to me having flu), and came back with a large tree-shaped bend where the front of the car used to be.... _________________

'Course, you've got to vandalise your new toys haven't you?
Step one, undo little lock screw:
Which lets you unscrew the wiper cap with a pin wrench:
Then you need to push the billet alloy main seal/shaft support down to expose the snap ring it holds against:
Prise that out with a tiny screwdriver and you can remove the shaft support and the 3 captive seals:
This is the bleed hole to purge air from the shock when rebuilding in case you were wondering.
Progressive rebound bumpstop, to prevent that horrible 'click' you often get with GAZ/Avo/Koni's at full extension:
And the main valving piston, complete with shims and high-speed circuit backstop so that you can go jumping over humpback bridges if you like.
The patina is the oil draining off in ripples, not muck :D
PTFE coated PEEK main piston band, stagger cut for less leakage, and main body circlip:
Main compression stack shims once the piston is taken apart:
Compression valving side of the piston:
Rebound side:
The original rebound shims stack:
My rebound stack:
Remote res. end cap - secured with a circlip the same as the main seal:
And the billet floating piston:
There a barrel adjuster and another set of valving behind that, but I was just playing with a slightly tweaked valve setup.
They're got to come apart again for a little machining, and a Penske piston fitting with a 2* dish on the face (Fox pistons only have 0.5*), so I might get some pictures of the barrel adjuster and the secondary base valving if I remember. _________________

Any chance you could measure me up a Saxo rear damper "him"?
I think the only difference is that the Saxo dampers are offset slightly at the bottom?
In which case, these'll fit..... _________________

Bolt holes, and the closed length from eyelet to eyelet, and just want to know if they mount up centrally or have one of the mounts offset to the side like the 206? _________________

Is this bit part of the shock, or part of the car?
Look to be the same length as the 306 ones - about 9.5 inch closed - is it a 12mm bolt hole at the top and 14mm bottom? _________________

I would need to check, but looking at how "clean" it is compared to the trailing arm, I would say part of the shock. _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |

Reckon you could measure me that bit from the centre of the bush housing?
Found the closed lengths - same as the 306. _________________

I can foresee bodywork melting issues with the exhausts though |

Nah, we've got a ceramic heatshield in there diverting the exhausts under the rear cutout - there's more room that you think between the bodywork and the exhausts. _________________

Well, took the buggy to it's final event of the season yesterday - in the running still for winning the 2wd championship, even with the events we've missed.
Unfortunately, despite being the fastest 2wd by a long shot there, we got two punctures, both on the rear axle, that left us stranded at the far side of the course :(
By the time we'd been back to service and rolled two wheels and a jack through the woods for 4 miles, we couldn't complete enough runs to finish the event. Bah.
The car had been spinning the wheels on the rims somewhat early on in the day, which probably helped towards them getting thrown off the bead by the rocks.
We do have some 16x8J steelies in the making to fit over the winter though, which will let us step up to more aggressive tyres with 8 ply Kevlar sidewalls instead of the 3 ply nylons we are currently having to run, should sort that out. _________________

You need to post something else in there then... perhaps an exhaust recording?
Or you could add it to the "which is better" thread... V6, V8 or V10? _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |
