As soon as I could get a car with aircon (first was a 406 back in 1996), I wasn't interested in a sunroof at all, there were plenty of other options I wanted a lot more.  .

This.

And it hasn't changed.

Re the Webasto, my dad had one on an XJ6 and I had one on a Rover 3500 P6 and in both cases they were a great concept but in practice the wind noise seemed to be dreadful at anything over 30-40 mph unless you only had them open a tiny bit.

I open my sunroof on almost every journey except when it's raining or very cold. It's so nice to have the air around you without all the exposure you get from a convertible. It adds a degree of enjoyment I didn't realise I missed, until I got a sunroof again (haven't had one since my mega mile days in 2 Golf GTi's and my E300-24V, which was nearly 20 years ago!)

Exactly this. I almost always have it open at least on the tilt-position. And I agree that I like that BMW still offers an old-skool sunroof that doesn't stack up on top of the roof like some ugly afterthought when open.

The last car I had without a sunroof was the 330d which lasted all of three minutes. Overall, the 440i would be my 21st car and I think only five haven't had a sunroof.

Aircon is pretty much standard these days, which saves you the choice.

As for the fixed glass roof, we have one of those on the Fiat and it is much nicer than a normal roof, but it is a pity it doesn't open.
