I'm a fan of the latest Lexuses, squared wheel arches aside, and like neon colours on some (very specific) cars, but this is all kinds of wrong:

I think that the RX actually looks less ghastly in a brash colour.  In a sober one, it looks glaringly wrong.

I love everything about the styling of the RX and NX except the front grille. So close.

Ignoring our differing views, do you think it (and I'm actually not sure which one it is above) looks better in bright or sober colours?

'Busy' designs with lots of sharp creases and different surfaces should always be metallic regardless of colour to get the full effect of the design IMO

Followed a new 5 Series saloon (is that G30?), this afternoon. It was still partially covered in patterened wrap but has nice proportions.

Just seen a current shape Range Rover in black with NO privacy glass and shirt button wheels (they're probably still at least 20").

I've had an invitation to a preview event in a weeks time, which includes a drive of a camouflaged version.  I don't see the point when all the pictures have been released, there's a brochure / price list and it's on the configurator.

I saw an early Nova saloon with 2 young lads aboard.
Looked like it had been restored, it even had standard, new looking, steel wheels.

One-owner retirement special? Our neighbours have a P-reg Vectra saloon which they've owned from new, and looks immaculate apart from a slight mirror scrape. They're in their nineties now.

I just wish that the new Grand Scenic was also available in that colour.

Yesterday, somewhere around Bracknell... a green, R-suffix Marina 2-door coupe looking slightly tatty.  Can't be many Marinas left in a roadworthy condition

On Sunday I passed a yellow Rover SD1 - an early one as well, so possibly one of the ones they really didn't build properly. I thought I was in a scene from The Professionals for a moment.

Just remembered that at the weekend I saw a white Insignia VXR estate.
Must be fairly rare in any colour. I was cautious initially but the slightly erratic driving made me comfortable it wasn't Plod.

There's an Audi S8 V10 on my patch. It's in an OK but not brilliant area and it stands out a mile but I have long admired it. I finally met the owner yesterday and we chatted about it briefly. He says he can justify it because he hasn't got a missus to nag him about it and he has had it for 10 years. I suspect it was a post divorce treat. Fantastic car and when revvex it makes a rather nice sound and the whole car rocks.

Another 2 spots yesterday included a Japanese spec Jag XJ and a VXR8 who, once overtaken, decided to keep pace. He was merely toying with me I susect!

Just seen my first all new Volvo S90 on the road

Actually better looking at the front than I'd previously given credit for on these forums but all undone by my god in all that is holy what the fuck is that rear like?...that's truly appalling. Heavy styled, like someone has sat on it and those lights are just the worst I've seen. Ruins the car. BMW, Audi, Merc all have styling that might be less risky but at least it's attractive, elegant and desirable. This looks an utter mess. Good grief i can't get over just how awful the S90 look at the back. Hideous lights.

I'm not sure I'd apply those 3 adjectives to describe the current BMW and Merc range, especially the elegant bit?

Okay, expensive too. You can see the quality. The Volvo looks daft

You can see it, but can you feel it?

I've not had a proper look at one yet, but I was in Head Office today and saw a colleague has had a new V90 R Design in a nice blue delivered, so I might have a proper look at that next time.

I caught up with a SEAT Ateca yesterday and until I saw the badge I had assumed it was a skinny tyres (if such a thing exists) Audi Q3 or Q5.
From the back the SEAT is identical.

RX4.

The X-Mod was a stop gap to get on the crossover band wagon before Kadjar existed, it was pointless though; no one actively sought out an X-Mod because it looked kind of like a crossover from a massive distance if you squinted and it was midnight with no street lighting!

People bought the X-Mod because dealers had to have one and when the showroom one was sold they had to have another, so people who were interested in a Scenic and needed something asap were steered in the direction of the showroom X-Mod for a very good price.

Weird spec too; a Dynamique (most popular spec) Scenic had the hands free key card, auto lights and wipers, electric handbrake and part leather, the Dynamique X-Mod had none of these.

Having said the above, I think a certain member of this forum actually sought out an X-Mod, he saw sense though!

I am 2 weeks into a new interim role.  The works car park is quite interesting; this week I have seen two other Caymans (both 987.2, both PDK), another E90 M3 saloon (silver, 60 plate, M-DCT), an M240i and a Lotus Evora.  On my daily commute (33 miles each way on A roads) I have seen a Gallardo and a 458, as well as a 56 plate Cayman routinely going the other way.

Some of us oldies don't want auto lights, auto wipers and prefer a traditional handbrake to the electric thing.  Even to this day I curse the auto-wipers on both my Fords and the CapturD; traditional variable-interval interittent wipe is far, far better

It depends on how well they work, I know the Porsche system is a pain.  I don't have to touch my handbrake button, it releases when I pull away and is automatically applied when I turn off the engine, the gearbox even goes into Park.   I can't see the downside with a decent keyless entry/start system either.

It depends on how well they work, I know the Porsche system is a pain.  I don't have to touch my handbrake button, it releases when I pull away and is automatically applied when I turn off the engine, the gearbox even goes into Park.   I can't see the downside with a decent keyless entry/start system either.

Fair enough.  I just can''t see the upside.  I like the fact that I have to insert a key somewhere into the dash to make the car work, and then remove it from the dash when I get out of the vehicle.  The only bit of key technology that I think is good is remote central locking and unlocking!
