I knew about this but I'd never seen the video. As a child, my aviation mad (and now pilot) brother would point out my Micromachine Hercules was the same size as the aircraft carrier.

Whilst it definitely didn't make me rethink physics, it's pretty impressive. That said, it' s a fucking big aircraft carrier!

Got my MX5 repaired and painted and had it back maybe a month and then I pulled out one morning but forgot my wooly hat so I parked on the front and went back inside picked up my hat and went out again and in that time someone had put a big dent in my drivers door. Or rather two big dents. The bloke over the road has a 4x4 and it was missing, CCTV showed him pulling out of the drive and he didn't even turn the wheel, just reversed straight back into my car.

He coughed up when confronted

MX5 is magnetic to twits in 4x4's

And why not? Anyway, more to the point, how do we recognise an Astra with full fat voodoo lights?

Maybe instead of a poppy on the grill or a sticker on the bumper they have a little pin stuck doll that looks like YOU!

No I think it's impressive , I just didn't think an Astra would be the first Mainstream hatch to have them that I know of

They're a 1600 option on all models, so pretty rare, although given the competitive pricing of the Astra generally, a fair few people on the AstraK forum (SwissTJ is on there, remember him?) have gone for them. I would've loved them on mine, but our car scheme barely allows cost options on paint let alone voodoo headlights unfortunately!

At least they are easy to spot compared to BMW adaptive lights!

The new Golf has them as an option as well.

I saw a 5 series estate with voodoo lights yesterday, they are surprisingly rare, but easy to spot as all 4 lights units are lit.  With the 3 series, it is a bit more difficult to tell the difference between the basic and voodoo LEDs.

I have to confess that every single long night time drive becomes a quest to see some voodoo lights in action!

I did that last year but luckily I found it a couple of weeks back which saves me having to remember to get one this year!

Lying in bed this morning in a somewhat drowsy state, getting quite upset because I could not for the life of me remember what kind of car my dad's driving these days.

I must have been more asleep/dozing than I thought, as he died in 2006!

As I left the Tower of London today I could hear great cheering/drunken singing.....

I don't know if they had chartered the entire vessel to take them to Fulham for their game (as I subsequently found out by Googling) but they certainly sounded like they were enjoying themselves

Today's courtesy car lottery from the Volvo indy is.....

... a 217k mile S40 1.9D. With electric aerial! Drives pretty well for the mileage to be fair. And it costs nowt extra.

Well cosmetically it's less than brilliant. It will make the V60 feel even better when I get it back (rear discs and pads plus front strut upper mounts).

So, if you're a high up bod at a prestigious institution and you spend 3 years breaking the rules that you wrote you're allowed to resign.

No doubt 'lessons will be learned' ( ) and the system will be tightened up but in the meantime this individual has undoubtedly earned a significant sum of money in that period and despite their clear lack of judgement will go on to further successes within the same industry.

And as for calling it an honest mistake I repeat that she wrote the rules

How do these people never get the sack?

When these thugs shoot someone dead in front of his family because he has the wrong gearbox, it is perhaps understandable why the Police shoot first and ask questions later - you don't tend to get many second chances when someone has a gun if they are as volatile as that.
