just beautiful, I really do love Audi's, their styling and design is spot on lately.

Give me an RS5 version of that, the engine from the RS6 and I'd think that would become all the car iwould ever need.

I really like it.

Shouldn't it be called A4 GT? There's no point it anyway it'll be priced higher and the Avant looks much better.

It's got the front of the A5 and as seen with the cabrio being replaced by the A5 model, they obviously want the higher odd numbers to be the niche models. A5, Q5, Q7.

I can't see how a hatchback is inherently "non-premium". Americans think that. Americans think a lot of weird things.

Hopefully it drives more like an A5 than an A4 - everyone seems to think there is a big difference...

I can see myself in one of these one day...

Wasn't the Rover SD1 sometimes looked down on as it was a hatch?

I think it may be a class type thing - hatches are utilitarian and for 'common' people whereas saloons are posh.

I can remember the press saying similar things about the Ford Granada MkIII when it was launched, and if memory serves it wasn't until much later into its life (when it was known as a 'Scorpio') that they introduced a saloon version.

There was a saloon before it was renamed Scorpio, it was face lifted at the same time.  My dad had a Granada Scorpio saloon when it was a trim level.

Bloke next door has a K-reg (I think) Granada Ghia V6 saloon of the jelly mould variety - he is a bangernomics extremist.

Much prefer hatchbacks to saloons - can't think of an instance where I don't.

Saw one when collecting my car - it's been under 'wraps' for days but they had the cover off for 10 minutes to show a potential owner; thought I'd have a nosey...

Looks nice, rather than being a niche too far, it makes the A4 saloon superfluous.  The rear looks smart, and the boot is a decent enough shape if not very deep.  However, it has a rear parcel shelf that makes the one in the Fiat 500 look like it belongs to a Mondeo estate!  90% of it lifts with the lid, fixed at horizontal to the resting position, with a tiny bit left behind the seats.

Nice.

Apparently there's going to be an RS5 version.
