XF tip.

Tiny bit of cosmetic bodywork done this week.  Chap tells me that they've had a few XFs in for stonechips just under the bonnet lip.  They aren't stonechips - there is just enough give in the hinges etc that if the bonnet is slammed, it can take off some paint underneath.

Thought it worth sharing, though I'm sure our XF owners are not bonnet-slammers.

I'm a bonnet slammer, but then again I've had two fly up on me at high speed, smashing the windscreen and rendering me blind to what's in front of me.

I wasn't on my black one. But at the moment, on the current one, unless I slam it it shows a bonnet open fault on the dashboard. It clearly needs adjusting. I'll check for paint ships later on!

The title of this thread made me think that the XF was being slated as a tip

Interesting. I'm of the "make sure it's shut" persuasion (with bonnets, not doors- that does annoy me!) so I may need to be careful.

They can also have an issue with the boot filling up with water (mine does not, thankfully). Our new neighbour has one and it would not start recently, he remarked to Mrs ALF that he's been through a car wash just before - she told him the boot was probably full of water. Even though I never told her that - her sister has a neighbour with one that had a boot floor literally swimming with water, and it's where the battery advice.

So, never let it be said Mrs ALF cant give good car mechanical advice!!!
