Are those 14" wheels... and a "vanity" plate?
<--- It looks very red, just as your description suggests...

Dunno what the wheels are, they're just what it came with and the plate is for my initials so I can remember what my car reg is for the
first time in my life.
It is RED, not one of those modern "what colour is it?" colours. RED. Like a sports car should be. RED.

Some of the panel gaps are worryingly large...

BeN.
It's a relatively old car and design now so you shouldn't expect the panel gaps to equal the latest state of the art designs but even
so the gaps aren't really that large they just look large due to the curvature of the panels and in one photo the effect is
exaggerated due to the closeness of the camera and the distorting effect of the wide angle lens.

Ah, alright then.

Nice pics of a nice car, alan.

Thank you Matt
I took quite a few and I'm looking for one to print out at A3 and frame end put on the wall. I think I'll go for number two.

I think picture one would look great cropped in a long and narrow frame, like this.....

I love the mk2 MX5, a classic design, but what I'd really like is one of these:-

That does look good, but I'm into open cars.
Looks nice in white though. In fact, it looks very nice. Got any more pictures of it?

Nice Alan, I always thought your MX-5 was silver.

Nupe.
I had a black MK1 and this is my second red MK2. I bought the others new but this one is a 2001 and has had more owners than you can shake
a stick at.

I just did a google image search of 'MX5 Coupe'. I don't know why they only did a very limited run of those, it looks fantastic, would surely have sold and would have cost them pennies to develop.

I agree with you Alan, number two is by far the best of the bunch IMO. May I suggest you just darken the sky abit more for atmosphere as I have done here.

Yup, already done that I selected the blue sky and tweeked it then saturated it a little more, but trying to keep it subtle. It looks ok.
The light was pretty flat but on the drive home everything changed...such is life!
I've printed it to A4 and it looks ok so next will be A3.

Yes, it does. |
Red enough for you Alan?
I like the look of the coupe very much, I am not a fan of convertibles...

I think you should get the last one printed - I like it a lot.

Lovely car, Alan. Red is the colour. You should bring it to Prescott!
You will be pleased to know i spent the whole weekend inspecting my Mark 1 for rust - taking off the colour coded mud guards and wheel arch trims, cleaning or replacing them, then cleaning and rust proofing and spraying the arches and behind the wing sections. Luckily the rust spots on the outside of the sills appear to be superficial rather than from the inside out. Alloys were then cleaned and new wheel nuts put on. Next job is to rust proof the inside of the sills and get the rust seen to.

Good God.
You did all that?
I used to do stuff, everything from servicing to bodywork but these days I don't seem to have the time or the inclination so I just
book it in and pay.
It looks nice in the pictures but there is some rust on the sills but overall it's not going to fall apart anytime soon.

Yes, but took me a long time even for basic stuff like that - a few hours each day. A learning curve, that's for sure, although very satisfying. The amount of cack trapped behind the arch trims and wings was increadible.
Amazing what you learn about your car from reading a work shop manual, some of it pretty important. I didn't know for example, that there were drain holes for the sills and hood which can become blocked - i presume this applies to the mark2.
|

|
Oh yes. Bird droppings, bits of leaves and anything can get swept to the drain holes and block them.
When I first got mine I stopped in traffic and a tidal wave of water came forward from behind the passenger seat. The roof wasn't
leaking, it's just that the drain holes were blocked and the water overflowed and found it's way in.
