woof woof's long walk.

I thought I'd go for a walk with my camera. It was a nice enough day when I set off but just a couple of 100 yards from home the snow started.

This was the scene as I reached the hill, but at least the sun had come out.

I got my foot wet more than once as snow covered ice and then water.

This was the scene looking down.

I don't know how this got half way up the hill, I think it must have been dropped by an RAF transport, or aliens.

I wanted to get to the top but I couldn't see the path and when I tried to find my own way the snow came to the top of my legs, so I gave up and walked through the trees. I saw a deer but he was way too fast for me to get a picture.

Back to civilisation. Well, almost, Eston. Still a long walk to home though and I was dead on my feet.

I'd been out walking for 5 and a half hours and walking in the snow was tiring. My Regatta walking boots were great but my jeans froze solid from mid calf down.

As I like shallow dof flower shots this is my shot of the day.

Looks like you had a good stretch of the legs there Alan.
..

My left leg seems to have suffered, dunno why as my right is fine. I was out clearing snow today so I've had a busy couple of days for a man of my age. Plus the boiler went wrong this morning and I had to sort it out.

Great photos Alan,  after reading the thread title I was worried you were leaving us again...

You wish!

I'm here to stay until you've all been assimilated and are just like me.

I like the ones with the trees - good set.

Nice colour balance with the 2nd shot - what did you have your white balance set to?
..

The 20D WB was set to Auto but on a few shots I had to use the WB tool in Rawshooter Essentials, just clicking on the snow.

All the shots are actually in colour, despite there not being much of it about when it snowed.

I found with (most of) the pictures I've taken over the past couple of weeks, they look much better converted to B&W.

Mind you, I prefer B&W for lots of shots, with or without snow!
