Who said used prices were holding up?

I give you exhibit A of what you can buy nowadays:

That looks astonishingly good value if the price isn't a mis-print.
If only it came as an estate......

Been for sale since 13/8.

I suspect it would have sold already if it was an Estate.

Hmm. it's still an 8 year old gas-guzzler that will cost £4k if something bad goes wrong and it has a lot more to lose in the next 2-4 years.

I agree on the estate comment.

Doesn't look that cheap. Its a bit of a funny one the S6 as I can't imagine its much cheaper to run the the RS6.

In terms of fuel and insurance etc you're right but the RS6 has a number of 'benefits' that have the ability to openly shaft you then brag to everyone what it's done.

S6 much, much more appealing.
Martin

I don't think that's cheap either, it's that price because it isn't a popular car and it still has a fair bit to lose and it won't be cheap to run.  As has been said, an Avant would be a lot better option and worth more.

I'm not a fan of that model A6 and it's aged really badly.

I guess the big difference is that the RS6 gives you a nice pair of turbos that'll cost a pretty penny to replace if they go bang!

435 BHP.... a top-of-the-range Golf has almost that amount of power these days.......

Expensive for what it is - an unloved version (saloon) of an relatively unloved variant (s6) that's now over 8 years old.

As cool as a nat asp 5.2 V10 is, I've always thought it was an odd choice of power unit to put in a clumpy A6 or A8 with a torque convertor auto.

It does male more sense in the back of a Lamborghini but the idea is pretty good.

Maybe in a few years time it'll be good donor for Blarnos track car!

Trouble is with that sort of car is that the current forced induction engines that are replacing the ones found in these are better all round other than in the sound dept.
Tim

I don't think that's cheap either.

The S6 has always seemed an odd place for a sporting engine to me.

Work colleague has turned up in an X-reg metallic grey SAAB SE convertible with leather interior and a fabric roof that looks almost as-new; car appears to be virtually unmarked but he said it's a bit high on mileage (around 180,000 apparently) and has a couple of minor niggles that need attention.
He paid £520 from a trader ! That's real value

Fuck me that's cheap motoring: even if it goes bang after a couple of months.
