Where I live...

Thought it might be nice to see where we all live.

This is Normanby high street. A couple of pubs, a couple of take aways and a few shops. In the second shot you can see Eston Hills but not clearly as it wasn't a clear day today. Note the biker on the pavement, I do wish that they wouldn't do this. He's just coming up to The Poverina which does a nice cheap dinner.

Fancy posting a couple of shots of your town?

This is Lucan house. My grandad grew up there. It could have been my family home too were it not for a few ancestors who liked the drink and the horses.
It's about 5 mins walk from where my parents live now.

It's now the residence of the Italian Ambassador to Ireland.

There's more information here: http://www.iol.ie/~geof/lucanhouse.htm

They "liked horse" eh? snigger snigger.

Shame, would make a lovely little family home.

OH if you insist...

Oh, go on then.  My house is somewhere on the hill in the background.

See it all here: (not my photos, though - is that allowed on our photography section?)

I live in a Village called Merrow, my town is Guildford.

I haven't any photo's of Guildford town but popped out earlier to get a few of Merrow:

The local Church:

Local Pub:

I think there is someone on here who's parents live a few houses from the pub.

This is only 5 minutes drive away and one of the reasons why I love it so much where I live, I walk Humphrey here regularly, Newlands Corner:

The other side of Merrow is Stoke Park which leads into town, there are rugby, football and hocky pitches and right at the far end is a park with a boating lake, gardens and a kids playground:

This building replaced the original AA UK headquarters, the clock on the top is from the original building and the roundabout is known locally as the AA roundabout, the roundabout leads into Burpham, where I spent my early years, Merrow and Guildford.

Can't help noticing in the pub photo how councils can't resist uglifying even beautiful villages with thoughtless and excessive street furniture. Get rid of those ridiculous railings and bollards, for starters.

I'm struggling to think of anywhere pictureskew to photograph in my hometown. There is probably lots of nice spots, but I just don't have the eye to spot and snap them!

We do have a white horse, though, which can just be seen in this pic of my dog when he were a pup.

Oh yes. I can see the horse. Lovely dog.

If the weather's nice this week I promise to go round on me bicycle and take a few snaps of what I find.

Yup, that's part of the roof of their house to the right of the pub ... and the distinctive chimney
(I reserve the right to delete the photo below at any time! Notice how even the Galaxy seems lost against the house, which has only 5 bedrooms despite appearing enormous)

Not really near where I live, but there's a great new high-rise - by Plymouth's standards - going up down on the Barbican.

And this one is what happens when you turn down the red channel on Aperture's monochrome mixer - an effect I rather like.

I like them all, especially number 2, but would it be better with the crane either all in as in number 1 or just cloned out.

Two howlers from my phone, sadly. In daylight, the screen is so dim and reflective it makes framing a nightmare.

Smeaton's Tower in a strong breeze.

The BBC were in the city centre filming a reading for their Poetry campaign. The bike had been converted to generate the power.
