What are you getting for Christmas?

Does anyone know in advance or is it all top secret time?

My daughter may have inadvertently told me last night - if I'm right I am off for a morning at Mercedes World and a something 63 on the track. If I'm wrong, C'est la vie! Another shirt, jumper etc etc.

For me at this time of year a rest is all I need: it's a break in the 7 day a week period!
Stuntman

Sounds like a fab present!
Me?  No idea.  Something edible or drinkable I suspect and hope.  As a family we are very minimal present-givers.
TreVoR

It's been a heavy year for expenditure so we are trying to be frugal for Christmas.

I am getting a coat for driving the TVR in with the roof off as my trusty Superdry Windcheater has a bust zip after five years.

I've bought Lindsey a coat too and some doggie books  (Off the Leash) as a surprise.
Martin

Not going too mad after wedding/honeymoon costs, plus other 'essential. minimoon and honeymoon items like Samsonite cases and North Face coats (very different, definitely not matching!).....

I'm getting a Cambridge TV2 for the bedroom (so a gift for both of us) and I've got Lindsay an Apple Watch 2.

Ssshhh
JohnC

If I'm right about my present it is going to incur a good bit of expenditure with a couple of days in London, car hire and no doubt lots of girl shopping!
gooner

Haven't a scooby and I'm more than happy with that. There's nothing I want that would be within the budget of those buying for me (anyone who does wish to spend 250 on a Lego Tecnic 911 GT3 for me is more than welcome!)
Blarno

I'm hoping for the Lemmy Pop Vinyl that has just bedn released, but otherwise no clue. I don't require presents any more, I buy things if I want them and funds allow.

Amazon were selling them at 175 on Black Friday and all the stock in my site went within a couple of hours.  Hardly sold any at 250.
Humphrey The Pug

Myself and the wife tend not to spend much on each other, I haven't a clue what she has bought me, she has asked for ideas but there is never anything that I really want, apart from a Sonos sound bar but I know I won't be getting that.

I think the youngest has bought me a pair of leather Converse High Tops; you can never go wrong with a pair of Converse for me.

Tina had a spa day with the eldest in the summer, so that is part of her pressie, the rest will be small bits and bobs.

+1 !
Wife and I tend to buy our presents for ourselves from each other; usually I wrap all the presents and end up addressing my own present to me from the wife

Almost - I got myself some more Granny Smiths last night
BeN

BMW loaned me a 1 Series for the holidays. Score.

I still have no idea what I'm getting from my friends. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
Frank Bullitt

I got a smart casual jacket so that I can look posh, there will no doubt be more on Christmas Day - I'm not remotely fussed about getting anything, it's all about the kids!
gonnabuildabuggy

Apple Watch 2 for me. Wearing it now.

Mrs. getting Jewellery making tools she ordered last week.

This year less for the kids but more expensive stuff.

Just my mum to sort out (from my brother as he's in Canada) and I'm done.

I am very much in the "I don't need anything" camp. I really don't NEED anything and would be happy with a few small personal things. My wife claims to be low maintenance but anything she wants is always high cost: this year she wanted a specific coat which was fine until I saw the price! Credit card duly punished but the other bits and pieces are all small. My daughter is the main focus and I tend to pick up bits and pieces through the year when she mentions things but the secret is trying to figure out what she will still like at Christmas.
My son is 22 and just wants money or sex: I had to tell him that a facebook post that says "I could shag a hole in a wall at the moment" was not perhaps the most sensible thing to do. Oh to be 22 again!
Tim

No idea what I'll be getting on the day but we've both decided we need to buy new iPods so will be spending money on those after Christmas.
Big Blue

Asked for nothing; need nothing. Will get all kinds of stuff I don't want.
Twelfth Monkey

Lots of books, a few films, signed Lou Reed CD is in the collective present pile.

Most looking forward to seeing a few faces when people get things I think they're really going to like.

Can you still buy iPods?

There's nothing I really need but I've asked for a particular jacket and shirt so I know what I'm getting from 'er indoors.

Mrs.Sacamano will be getting some jewelry she wants, a set of steps (don't ask!) and a new putter (to be honest more jewelry would have been cheaper).

We're getting a new cooker in the new year instead...

And there was me thinking romance was dead!
Nice Guy Eddie

Asked for a Panerai Luminor or a Naim Muso, neither I'll get so I await something else with a smile on my face
Michael

I have no idea but an Amazon box arrived this morning which was swiftly whisked away. We don't really do presents, tending to buy what we need.

Maybe ask for the chinese Lepin knockoff version, apparently it virtually indistinguishable from the lego version...

You are absolutely right CB!

My wife is getting a ludicrously expensive coat, a scarf that she admired and her favourite perfume. She is also getting a few other bits and pieces I bought for my daughter to give her.

My daughter is getting lots of make-up, some jewellery and some clothes and my son is getting money because he knows far better than I what he might want to spend it on.

Looking at that lot, this must be the first time in years that there hasn't been some kind of gadget/phone/laptop involved.

I think UNICEF will do best of everyone I give to, this Christmas !

Nice one.

W2.0 is getting a Liberty scarf amongst other tut as she asked for one. How much???? For a fucking scarf????  I also just had her Rolex serviced. Ouch!
Roadsterstu

Evan is getting an Xbox One FIFA17 edition. I can see me "needing" to upgrade to a 4k TV in the new year. He is also getting numerous other things, including a nice RC Ferrari The Ferrari. His big sister is having clothes, vouchers for clothes, make up and money for clothes. Mrs R is having a few little niceties, nothing really expensive, as we agreed to spend on the kids. I have no idea what I am getting. Apart from a bit pissed.
Blarno

Wife has some Pandora bracelet doobries/pug based stuff, Phoebe is getting an XBOX One and who knows what else and Lottie is getting dolls and clothing.

The XBOX benefits me as well, obviously....

This pretty much. A nice day at home wit Mrs PG is a great present. Maybe a bit corny,  but time with loved ones means more and more somehow.
Nelson

given our heavy expenditure on 2 new items for the house, one being rather essential I have asked Julie not to buy me anything this year, perhaps I might find a cardi or a t-shirt in the post Christmas sales, but otherwise as we only have one daughter we have treated her so much, the lounge floor will be covered in presents for her, Santa's going to need a long wheel based sleigh. She's my little girl and my number one so she gets spoilt a little at Christmas, but then its a good opportunity for us to tell her just how much we love her and how proud we are of her, especially this year after starting a new school in September and how well she has already achieved academically.

I have bought Julie 2 sets of pj's, some nice tops and some Ted Baker smellies

Me, my parents have bought me a bluetooth wireless speaker (Blaupunkt BPS 2). Only 25 from Sainsburys but I tried it out in store and at 10w its ample for our living room or bedroom and for their price their sound quality is very good. Only want one to play music from my phone. I'm very happy just with that to open on Christmas morning

I have a friend got one of these for Christmas and I am watching his build progress on Facebook. I didn't realise it had a working pdk gearbox!!!
simonp

Appparently that doesn't work correctly until you swap some bits around...
Frank Bullitt

Mrs FB got me this for Christmas - I'll be building it over the weekend

There are many occasions on which I thank my lucky stars that I don't do arsebook or twatter!

I got that one a year or so ago (think it was birthday rather than crimbo) and it does look good. The alternative build Dakar-style rally truck is worth a go at too.

I tend to read what others post but don't add anything myself. I really don't see why everyone should know what I am doing at all times of the day, not hat most of it would be of any interest in any case.
simonp

I'm trying to get hold of a Wall-E, but I think I may have missed the rocket.

I didn't realise there was the Dakar truck option until FB Junior pointed it out, looked fantastic too

Nice.

We built a Legocity boat today, just a small one from Mini D's stocking. That range looks good, she has a birthday in a few months so might add the train to her collection.

Her cousin (similar age) has a load of Playmobile stuff and while it's good fun at that age it soon becomes redundant where as lego sets will live on for ever as they can become something else. Besides, what is that wing doing on a Carrera S?!

Boxer6

My present to myself is not car-related at all!

Andy C

I got a ken block rally experience in either a focus RS or Impreza sti , and these :

gooner

Nice! I knew Haynes did a 4cyl version a few years back that was very educationally based but that V8 looks much more fun.

I seem to be the only contributor here!

Anyhoo, I got really lucky and got one of the final ones for sale from the Lego Store.

https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/WALL-E-21303

He's now sold out, but obviously still being sold on eBay and Amazon Marketplace for nearly twice the price by the profiteers the world seems to be massively overpopulated with nowadays...
JohnC

If you can keep it in perfect condition in its box for 40 years it might be worth a bit. My nephew has a Wall-E but it is just another pile of unconnected bits now, it his large box of Lego.

And I have a morning at Mercedes World at some point in the summer!
simonp

Not that long necessarily. The Taj Mahal set that came out in 2008 is often advertised at 3-4000 on ebay. There's one on there now, having looked. There was a huge Millennium Falcon set that goes for around 5 grand, too. Wall-E will obviously never be worth a great deal, but it does show how "collectible" these sets can be.
