VW Passat CC GT (sat inside)A friend has just changed his 04 320d Sport Coupe for the Passat. First impressions are good, with superb interior build quality and an excellent Dynaudio sound system. I like the styling, inside and out, too although, even in black, it doesn't hide its considerable bulk.

Sounds about right to me!
Not surprisingly, I like the Passat CC

I like the Passat CC too but I don't see it as a more prestige version of the Passat, like the CLS over the E class, it looks too much like a newer version of a Passat may looklike.

Not having experienced a 'normal' Passat, I cannot compare the CC to one. All I can say is that the CC had a definite quality feeling about it. A massive step up from Vectras and Mondeos I have been in.

The basics are the same, but the CC gets the latest climate control and steering wheel. The general feel inside is pretty much the same as a top end Passat.

What does this "next gen" CC do now, massage your feet?

Unfortunately not! It just looks more modern!

Mixed feelings about the CC: like the Scirocco it looks best from dead ahead, as that emphasises how low and wide it is. The interior has nice quality materials, but in all the ones I've seen, not in happy combinations - beige plastic and shiny bling, for example.

The wheel was extra specially nice.

I've seen quite a few of these about, they must be very popular as company cars as the ones I have seen all have leasing company plates.
I really like it and it seems to carry off the prestigious thing very well.

I quite like the CC looks-wise

That's a good point. I bet VW could almost have canned the current Passat at the end of it's cycle and wheeled this out as it's replacement.
It would probably be quite a radical change in comparison to the MKVI Golf...

That interior is better to look at than the current Audi equivalent. No MMI / twisty bits and it seems to encompass the less is more approach that made earlier Audis so good.

I really like the concept of the CC, the idea that you can buy a sub £25k 4door 'coupe' with a quality interior really appeals to me. Just put off by the styling and size of the rear lights, they make the rear look too heavy and cumbersome, otherwise a great choice and I can really see its appeal

I also really like the CC. For the first time in a long while VW's are appealling to me.
Yeah the MK5 GTi's and the R32s have always been desirable but with the addition of the Scirocco (in bright colours as I think it looks pants in the dark ones) and Passat CC, VW have added a less sporty element that looks good and has massive kerbside appeal.

I like the CC too and I think it will tempt new buyers to VW rather than the default 3 Series or C Class. However it is a strict 4 seater so the new Passat will have to be a good bit different.

Along with the Scirocco the CC is my favourite VW by a long chalk. I particularly like the interior, vastly preferable to new Audis. Haven't seen many yet but always worth a second glance when I do see one.
