Two different ways for 4 to go fast

...in a green and tan livery...both very tasty

For some reason the Jag is the much more attractive of the two to me. I think the M5 would worry me at 15 years old and the price is certainly at the top end of the scale. The M5 might be OK if it was garaged and driven sparingly but I reckon the Jag would be much easier to live with and just as, if not more, enjoyable.

That Jag is spoilt by having privacy glass (hopefully tints that can be removed?) and the original owner forgot to specify black suedecloth headlining. Other than that, a great spec.

I love the M5 in that colour combo. That must be very, vert rare?

An apt typo?

Are you going green with envy?

They may be 2 different ways for 4 to go fast, but neither appeals to me

Love both of those, but I think the M5 edges it for a purer experience.

The difference in experience between the two would be immense. I had a brand new E39 530i in 2001 and at the time it was fab. The Schreibmaschine was a 2003 E39 but after the A8 the class and generation gap were clear to feel. That XF will be far more like the F10 5-er, which feels just like the A8 TBH. The E39 does feel and behave like a much smaller car, though; in a way I only previously experienced in the W124 Mercs my step-dad had and which I coveted. You can really throw them about, especially the Alpina and M5.

I'd go for the E39.

That M5 is glorious, no idea what the driving experience would be like as it may have a feeling of being old but none of the charm of a classic.

I'd be looking at mint E46 M3's instead at that money.

Funny you should say that. My Autotrader garage:

I've got several different ways of going fast in my Autotrader Garage, even got a Jaguar in there.

Yes, Racing Spec but applied to entirely the wrong car. I really don't like that generation of XJ - the styling doesn't work for me at all.
