Wow, a passenger door mirror!

And an AM/FM radio!

I think we've found Blarno's perfect car.

Too many doors.

My late Brother had a 3 door Popular on an F plate in the same colour. It was mint (back in 1991) and was an odd spec in that it had a 5 speed 'box and ABS.

I love that, I served my time with a Ford dealership in the early 90's and these were everywhere.

At £2595, it looks cheap too.
Humphrey The Pug

Brings back fond memories of my red 1.3L; D plate.

My first proper business hire car was a 1.6L Escort of that ilk in 1983. It was a revelation compared to the knackered Rover 2200 I had at the time.

However, by 1988, everything else had caught up and these Escorts were bloody awful - tinny and cheap. At the company I worked for in 1988, I ran a fleet of over 70 cars. Reps / engineers had the choice between an Escort 1.6GL, Astra 1.6GL or Rover 214Si. The Rover was the one to go for (the rebodied Civic of the time).

No one did  mainstream poverty at silly prices  better  than Ford.Still, that is a lovely example and the blue interior is sweet
Seems someone splashed out on a rear wiper.

Blarno

I love the way it mentions 'high security locks' when they were one of the simplest cars to break into.

Not forgetting the Halogen headlights and reversing lights
Laminated windscreen.
What decade where the Ford brochure peeps living in ?!

I had an Orion 20 years ago, but it was badged 1.4?  Can't remember what added luxuries the LX had apart from a reclining passenger seat

Smooth!

I had a 1.3 Lazer 3 door which was my 1st brand new car.
This one does seem very cheap and surely can only go up in value from here.
Bob Sacamano

My first company car was a 6 months old F reg 1.4GL Escort which was actually a nice little motor. We did have a few 1.3 Pops on the fleet and they were a miserable little car. They had the older 1.3 gutless engine, hard plastics all over, thin felt carpets and the crappest seats going, made of a combination of vinyl and recycled man-made hessian. They had absolutely zero in the way of options and the highlight of the spec was the laminated windscreen. Anyone who had one of those really knew how little the company thought of them.

I can't see a price but if you look at how much Mk3 Cortinas, etc are they don't achieve a high value.

The price is shown in the main website.

Righto.
I can't see it ever being worth much more than double that on a good day.

Oh wow, how nostalgic for me. That brings back very happy memories, especially seeing that 3dr Pop model.

My first ever car was an Escort, the 1.4L 3 door no less in royal blue, with a manual choke, C950 AAC if I remember correctly. That was back in 1990, I bought it from a farmer, can't remember how much I paid for it, all I remember is that I took my (late) Grandad along with me to the viewing and test-drive. Happy days. Was gutted when 3 years later I swapped it for a red MG Metro (it looked the nuts back in the early 90's even if the build quality was shocking and I could breathe onto my hand with more warmth and with more power than the heater and fan ever managed, but I loved it.
