Third Forum Captur

Well no, I haven't bought one to join Chris and Bryan as Captur owners, but I did drive one briefly yesterday, so I thought I'd post something here.

The one I drove was the 90bhp dCi diesel with the automatic EDC gearbox, so basically the same one Chris has got (I think). Different colour though, in orange with white roof, which I didn't mind, but I like Chris' light blue scheme better.

Driving thoughts: The engine is quite lively, and surprisingly refined for a diesel. Its strengths seem to be in the mid range, when you get up to a decent cruising speed. I wasn't a fan of Renault's EDC gearbox in the Clio RS, but in this application it seems much more suited, given that it won't be worked as hard.

I found the ride quality quite good actually, certainly given the raised ride height. Handling was alright, no great shakes, but I thought the steering was perhaps a bit overly light.

The interior was interesting to say the least. I quite liked the removable seat covers with zippers, and there's also a detachable little container just behind and between the front seats. It's not as funky as the Citroen Cactus, but pretty unique all the same.

Overall, I quite liked it. Pity I didn't get to spend more time with it, but it's certainly made a positive impression on me.

Will post pics in a while.

Here's a photo of two dCi EDC's side-by-side.... mine's the blue-and-white one and the other is not the one driven by Ben !
