the sunderland goal

firstly I believe Man city have put a bid in of £25m for the balloon.

But credit to the scousrs for not making a big deal out of it,they were 2nd best and deserved to lose, glad to see them accept that with some dignity.
BUt listening to some of the wankers on the radio 'they should replay the game' ...refs make mistakes in tons of games that cost teams the points..should all those be replayed ? It was also an acceptable mistake as the liverpool defender went for it and depending ont he refs view it may have looked like the liverpool player deflected it ,not the baloon.

Aside from that it was very amusing.

Seems to be a big hoo ha about nothing.

You lost through a freak occurance. Tough luck.

It should be pointed out that the ball was thrown onto the pitch by a Liverpool supporter, so they shot themselves in the foot there.

I predict a pun run.

Apparently it's been nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

I was listening the crap about replaying the game as well. How does that work then? One muppet was saying they'd have to have the same line ups - well what would happen if Bent and Reid of Sunderland were injured for the replay? Or Liverpool had no fit midfielders and said they'd have to play Gerrard?

I was amused that it took only 15 minutes for the word "injustice" to be uttered by a Liverpool supporter phoning in after the game.
woof woof

I wonder if The Sun is backing the Liverpool fans campaign?

Said Ref has been struck off for the following weekends games.

Probably for his massive ineptitude.
Big Blue

In-off. Isn't that an extra point?

How many ballons / beachballs etc are we going to see waved at the next scouse game by the opposing fans?

I expect there is a Scousr somewhere who has gone into hiding, having bribed his mates to keep quiet.

I think the referee got a bit of a pasting unfairly in this one.

It is great to get a behind the goal perspective after the event when you can see exactly what happened but in the heat of the moment the ref is bound to be unsighted, miss things or have angles of sight make him think he saw something he didn't.

It is high time we had a system like tennis where the managers have, say 1 or 2 opportunities per half to call for an independant official to review footage of an incident and review a refs decision. The 4th or 5th official's decision would be binding and shouldn't hold the game up for long. This would remove the vast majority of arguments over unfair decisions and make the game a bit fairer in my opinion.

Most other games have incorporated technology in some way to assist with rule enforcement and for better decisions. It is time for football to do the same.

But that would give managers and fans less to moan about

I share an office with both a Rangers and a Celtic season ticket holder. Sometimes I question their intelligence and some of the mindless arguments they have: they aren't going to change any decisions that have been made but you're right Scamper, it keeps them going from one week to the next!

Still I only have two weeks to go until I am in my new office!

And by the way, I love football, just not the nonsense that goes with some of it.

Ties in nicely with Halloween, clocks going back and Rebecca's 16th!

Good tidings for the big day........ oh, and when/where are you having the "office-warming" do? (I'm able to enjoy a wee libation now and again now!!

I hadn't thought about an office warming but maybe that would work nicely.

My new office is going to be near Anniesland in the refurbed building that used to be a bus garage many moons ago. My Mum is really happy because her dad used to work for Albion and he spent a lot of his time in the same bus garage helping out with problems on the buses. I'm still nervous but looking forward to it now.

Liverpool were crap and didn't deserve to win it. Sunderland are a decent team this year and have taken 4 points off last year's top two.
As a Liverpool fan, I'm not outraged by the result, but don't think the game should be replayed. It does bring up the need for tv replay's again.
I was listening to the game on the radio when it happened and couldn't believe what had happened. It was a freaky occurance that'll come up in a question of sport in a few years time.

I'd also prefer to see Liverpool lose a few games but win a few more this year. It's better than drawing 11 in a season.

Oh, and LOL and the Man City joke Franki!
Gooner

The ref should have known the rules of the game and ruled it to be a drop-ball. Whilst it is graceful of Liverpool not to moan about it, that was probably because of the great big Liverpool badge on it! Though that only served to make it even more amusing. But whilst the ref did get it wrong, quite badly actually and should rightly be sent to the fizzy pop leagues for a few weeks, it was a great talking point and life would be so much less fun without these incidents.

Apparently Steve Bruce wanted to name it man of the match despite only being in 30 seconds.
Rodge

Apparently it has a better scoring record than Emile Heskey this season too.....
