The Photoshop ThreadJust somewhere for you to post your latest creations in Photoshop.
Today's was a what if: what if Vauxhall made an Antara VXR?
The original.

Surely an Insignia VXR would of made a better project than an Antara. That's up there with the Meriva for pointlessness.
cbeaks1

...but its so much better than the original they should give Matt a job.
Matt
Hah, thanks. It's because the original is so tedious that I thought a photoshop could improve it.

I see more Captivas than Antaras. Not hard really, the Antara is about as appealing as shagging Cherie Blair - i.e like virtually nearly all Vauxhall products in the last 15 years or so. Though VX could have done us all a favour and not bothered making it in the first place!
Matt
At least they haven't copied the Cherie Blair gob! Yet.

The Antara would be complete if it had the H8 VXL regplate from a few years ago. Good chop though.
Matt
I wasn't aware of the H8 VXL plate. Either they didn't realise at the time or they knew the general perception of themselves.

There was an Antara on the Koleos launch and the only unanimous verdict throughout the day was that the Antara was a pile of crap.

Indeed.

It would be an improvement.
Don't know why some mfr's try and beat Land Rover at their own game. It'll never work.
Matt
Not that I've checked, but I doubt the Antara is that much cheaper than a Freelander either.

Why bother with PhotoChop when you can have the (nearly) real thing for a mere £3000 on your Antara?
Antara is, as mentioned, a pile of pooh, but Captiva isn't as bad and as we can buy 6 month old examples fully loaded at just over £10k they are a tidy little profit-maker!

I prefer Matt's VXR to that Irmscher.
Matt
Inspired by this half-arsed attempt at celebrating the MX5's twentieth birthday, I thought it'd be more appealing if they made new, bigger versions of the original alloys and got rid of the gaping air intakes.
Giant
That looks very professional other than the door handle. For the second time I'm going to say I prefer your effort to the official version! The wheels look particularly good.
Matt
Yep, the door handle was a big mistake!

Your version is a lot nicer - I think those "intakes" are just mounts for the foglamps - they're minging anyway and the car is far better without them. In fact, the nose has a hint of Evora now - which is a good thing IMHO.

Is anyone up for a photoshop challenge, ie doing some virtual work on my car?
Matt
A new grille for the Ford Transit, taken from the US Ford Raptor truck.
Matt

Started this one months ago. Just added the wheels today.
The original

No pepperpots?
Matt

I did have them in mind, but I happened across a Loder Fiesta and those wheels reminded me of the RS1800 alloys.

At this point in time, even putting the extra "T" in Matt's Av was too much for me! (I really will need to buy a book on Elements)

I can't help thinking that in a more sober colour Matt's Antara VXR could easily wear BMW badges and be assumed to be any old X5.
(That's a criticism of BMW, just to clarify things).

What i would like, if anyone can oblige, is:
The wheels and front grilles all turning blue, a deep imperial type blue if possible. Im trying to get blue as a secondary colour to the black, and am wondering what it will look like.
Good one for wheels:
For front:
If anyone can do this i would be very grateful.
Matt
Do you want the mirrors, too?
DradusContact
Aye, why not!
Matt
It didn't work mate. Apart from the wheels, the bits you wanted were too dark to notice the colour change.
The only way I could do it is to drastically lighten the bits, but it won't look too good.
If you don't mind, I'll do it.
DradusContact

Can you try with just the wheels for now then? Ill see if i can find a better photo then? I want it a bit like the Rover 200 BRM with the in your face grille, but just not orange.

Blarno

Blue wheels with a black car?
Don't do it, it will look beyond crap.
DradusContact
Thats why im trying the photoshop route first! Costs nothing except matts time!
Blarno

I'm saving you both time. Coloured wheels, with the possible exception of when they're fitted to a Porsche GT3, look gash. White is acceptable, as is gunmetal. Gold is borderline, depending on the car.
Matt
The wheels are done already!
BeN
Eww...
Blarno is right.

Reminds me of the rims on my old Raleigh Burner.

Dr. Hfuhruhurr
Ewwwwwwww indeed!
Matt
Yep, I had to promise Photoshop I'll do something to an E36 to make up for it!
DradusContact
Hmm, not as nice as i hoped but not as vomit inducing as i feared. I think ill leave that, but thanks for trying!
DradusContact
Is this a better image for the grille Matt?
Matt
Because the grille is dark it's hard to do it, but I can do it with a work-around. I'll get it done tonight.
DradusContact

Maybe a silver car would be better, and you could just change the colour of the body to black? Just guessing here!
Matt
Opel Insignia GT and Vauxhall Insignia GSI (I still lust after a 90s Cav or Astra version )
This one's colour may have been influenced by some car I know of...
Blarno

Christ! No sidewalls needed!
Matt
That's pretty much how the original was shod...

Dr. Hfuhruhurr

You can get fairly run-of-the-mill Insignias with 20" rimz innit.
