The Eco Wagen has arrived

The new company motor arrived today - my first 66 plate until the usual number gets put on it.

Naming suggestions for the forums first Plug in hybrid most welcome

That looks smart.
I look forward learning if it gives both good performance and economy.

Nice.  There's someone moved in across the street from us with one of those, in dark blue.  It's gratifyingly quiet when it sets off in the morning compared to a diesel.  Or, erm, a 6-cylinder Z4...

How about Zebedee.
Or Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for short?

I think Merc's styling has gone awry while they're apparently trying to catch the Chinese market.
Put that next to a previous generation one and the older one is better, IMO of course.

Be very interesting to hear how it goes.

Looks suitable "dark".

Donnie.

Dark Matter

Current-Klasse

It's very smart but for me it was an entirely retrograde step when Mercedes junked their traditional radiator grille and proper bonnet-mounted star in favour of the SL-look.
BeN

Nice. I like the wagon shape of the new C-Class.

As in Darko, I presume? In which case, +1. Either that or Darth.

Plug one?[/i]
Bryan M

I like Donnie and Darth the best so far.

I am tempted to add the bonnet star even if vulgar to have both.

It is very quick, range maybe an issue though.
Bryan M

Edison?
Martin

Looks smart.  Add me to the list of people who are really interested in how you get on.

Are you planning on charging the battery at home to help the range and make the most of the technology?  What range are you expecting?

My naming suggestions....The Mercedes, The C Class, The C350.
Bryan M

I think I will charge rarely unless a benefit, the range when I filled up was 279 miles which I hope improves.... It is a 50l tank which at 45mpg should give me a range of 450 miles which would be ok....charging should increase that.

Had a bit more of  drive very smooth and fast! I like eco!
JohnC

If you don't plug it in how does the battery get charged? If it is on the over-run and under braking, does that give enough charge to allow any reasonable electric assistance?
Giant

Are you one of us who keeps fuel economy spreadsheets? I too will be fascinated how you get on mpg/ mpkWh wise.

Donnie is a great name (as naming cars goes! )

Another vote for "Donnie" from me, and it does look smart

It's going to take some experimentation.  I'd be surprised if you get 45mpg without charging it up at the mains, but be interesting to find out.
Bryan M

The battery always keeps a bit of charge for boost and starting off.

I test drove one on a 300mile round trip to Bristol with an empty battery to start with. It averaged 46mpg there and 48mpg on the way back with normal driving.  It recovered about 30miles through brake regeneration etc

I'm hoping this will be similar

What size engine does it have, is it a 2.0ltr petrol turbo? If so 46mpg is pretty good for a car that size.
Bryan M

2l petrol turbo with 211bhp plus 80hp electric giving combined 280bhp and 6sec 0-60.

So a bit nippy then? Looks good, I quite like the looks. I'm not keen on the screen above the dash but all its rivals are the same nowadays and overall the interior looks better than both the 3 and A4.
