SqueakI've noticed a girly squeek come from the MX5 on start up. I presume this is the belt, which was changed only in April? Does this need adjusting or summat?

Belt? As in Fan Belt? If you pop the bonnet and take a look and listen while someone else starts it maybe you'll pin it down.
I had a Sierra company car that used to screech like a banshee.

Does it go once the car is warmed up?

Dont really know then. Its often the belt getting mositure on, but it takes a while for it to get burnt off as the engine warms up and it and stop squeaking.

New belts always stretch a little. They should be tightened after you've done 500 - 1000 miles.

Sounds very much fan beltish. The smart does the same on cold mornings for a few seconds.

More likely Mrs Scamper. As its largely been parked next to our other Girl's Car in Brum for the last two weeks.
Sounds like it needs tightening then - its actually done a fair 1800 miles on the new belt, but only starting squeeking after 1000 miles. I'll take it into my local mechanic as i've got some rear pads which need fitting too.

Aux belt is the number one suspect. Tighten it up a bit and it should stop.
Notice how we still call them fanbelts, despite engine fans being electrical for many, many years now?

Either the alternator or the aircon/power steering belt - there's two, the alternator belt adjusts by slackening the lower bolt (the head of the bolt is behind the alternator, bugger to get to), and the upper adjust which can see easily enough, and just winding the adjuster slightly.
The other belt needs one of the slots in the pulley to be lined up with the bolt behind it so you can get a socket in there to slacken the bolt - the other end has a nut where the exhaust manifold is, you should be able to get it with a spanner - and the pump itself moves to tension it.
