Small change, big difference

The MX5 has a very nice wooden Nardi steering wheel but given it's motorsport  use then I'm worried about splitting it if it's continued to be used in anger.

I've finally got round to sourcing a smaller "sports" steering wheel and finally fitted it yesterday.

Wow

Steering feel (already good) has improved immensely, as has responsiveness. I can't believe such as small change has made such a big difference.

I'm not at all keen on the Nardi wood-rimmed wheel in the V-Spec. The standard car's Momo leather item is far nicer but a smaller, thicker Momo is even nicer still. Change the gear know too, if not done already.

Not sure what I've got, Momo in theory but suspect it's just a badge on a cheaper wheel.

Considering short throw gear stick, and also K&N induction system.

Have got Decat pipe to fit tomorrow.

Oh. and cupholders.

The induction gubbins will make it properly rorty, especially with a decat pipe. I'm not sure the '5 needs a short throw gear stick - it's hardly a long throw to start with.
Cup holders in place of ashtray, I presume?

I keep hinting at my dad to start buying bits for his but he's not that bothered. I might go and do some guerilla fettling next time I'm down there...
