Right car, wrong regI just phoned up to get an insurance quote for a car.
To speed up the process I took the registration number from the car in the advert and gave it to the insurer.
When they told me the car details it was the right make, model and sub-group except they told me the engine cc and although it's correct for this manufacturer it is NOT correct for the car in the ad - backed up by an engine bay photo.
So should I be suspicious or is it possible that the insurance company's database is wrong?
As the car is on a personal reg could it also be possible that the current owner had a previous car - same make, model, etc - with the larger engine and also had the private plate on that?

Just checked the DVLA website and it comes up as the car in the photo.
Hmmm.

Happens all the time. I was told in no uncertain terms that my registration was not a valid reg. and my car didn't exist.
This was by Subaru assistance who assured me they use the DVLA website.

Go back to a main dealer and ask them to cross-check - that'll show whether it is legit or not.
My car comes up under a variety of descriptions (and engine capacities...) on insurance sites.
