Resisting Federer, Henry & Woods.I really don't care for Gillette's crude adverts, urging us to ditch our old Mach 3 razors in favour of the five-bladed fusion. Reminds me of the preacher in The Life of Brian talking about a nine-bladed sword ('wielded on sinners, sinners like you, sir!'), and don't really know what possessed me to change.Mistake to have resisted. I have sensitive skin (aw, diddums) around the Adam's apple, and this area tends to be sore post-shave no matter what preparations I've used. I've been using the fusion for a week now and have a completely non-sore face. Result. |

I've started to use the new King Of Shave razor, it's the best wet shave razor I've found, including all of the Gillette stuff, I suffer from sensitive skin too.
Those Gillette adverts with the computer generated, Woods, Federer and Henry are truly shyte. |

I use the same razor, not because of the ad, but because I found the novelty of a battery-operated electric razor (not shaver) interesting.
Of course, the battery has run out now, so it's the same as any old razor. |

I've had a Fusion jobby for a couple of years now and it's the best wet shave for me, but I get a terrible rash a day or so later on the neck, so I've all but given up wet shaving. Got a Phillishave thingy off the Missus and it just seems to miss patches of hair.
Consequently, I just trim my stubble down with a trimmer now, no rash. |

Indeed. It's probably computer generated because it's impossible to get the boring fuckers to do anything interesting in real life in front of a camera. That along with health/safety/insurance issues... I have a fusion in the bathroom cupboard but haven't tried it yet - I don't have a problem with the Mach 3, to be fair. Apart from the cost of the bloody blades! (Amazon is the way to go with that issue) |

I tend to have the same problem, but mine is caused by the direction of the growth - my beard grows down above the Adams apple and up beneath it. I just have to shave in two directions to avoid the rash. |

I've tried all the razors and found none comfortable so I just use my hair clippers now and go stubbly. I also have a stupidly expensive Braun electric jobby that is rubbish and never shaves my neck properly. | ||

Ive used a few electric ones and theyre good for a quick shave but they cant get half as close as a manual one | ||

Tried it, doesn't help. It's good for softening up the stubble before a trim, though. |

My lower neck bleeds every time I shave it - probably something to do with the fact that I use twin blade disposable bics and I can make a 2 quid pack of ten last me 12 months.
But I'm a double hard northern monkey, so I don't care - blood spilt, pennies saved - all gravy

My wife buys gillette blades for me because every time I go to the supermarket i can't resist the cheapo own brand. She seems to object to that "I shaved in the dark whilst pissed" look. She had similar objections when I asked her to cut my hair rather than go to the barbers, but she relented when she found option no.2 was cutting it myself. |

To be fair to the cheapy disposables, I personally think they perform very well compared with the top dick Mach 3 widgies. I'm very impressed with the twin blade bic ones - they are luxury compared with the single blade yellow ones that you could use to skin elephants with.
I suspect that the key to a good shave lies in the preparation of the skin via proper shaving cream and post shave moisturising. . . . . . . I use shower gel.

Yep definately, I always shave after my morning shower, just remember to leave the window open so the steam escapes otherwise you can't see shit in the mirror. |

Me too - I use the pre-shave gubbins, wet-shave with the KoS 'Azor' and gel followed by the aftershaving balm. As somebody who spent many years unable to shave for more than 3 days in a row it's lovely, never irritates and makes my face smooth enough. All done after a warm shower or after my session in the gym. Like others, my facial hair grows in various directions including back in (my wife just picks them out with a needle  ).

I used to have a Fusion but recently changed to the Quattro, which is significantly cheaper and only one less blade. It's so much smoother than the Fusion but does have a tendency to leave those annoyingly tiny cuts that are so small you don't notice them...until you get to work and find your collar spattered with blood!
I use King of Shaves gel and this seems to solve the problem a bit and I still prefer the Quattro to the Fusion. |

The beauty of the Fusion and other battery vibro razors is that they clear themselves very effectively, without having to resort to twatting the damn thing on the sink bowl.
I also have one of those Quattro titanium precision things with the built in trimmer. Don't bother, the trimmer is less effective than chewing the hairs down to size with your teeth. |

I shave whilst in the shower. The one good thing about spending lots of moolah on the superdooper-steamcabinet-shower-massager when we built the barn is the heated mirror which doesn't steam up. |

I have recently converted back to the dark side (after years of buying ever more costly razor blades as things changed - single - multi - swivel - 3d - battery.... and now use a Philishave rotary with a built in Nivea moisturiser dispenser. It can be used in the shower too as it's waterproof. Frankly, it was a revelation after previously having tried rubbish foil electric razors that just rip the hair out.

As chaps it is out duty to presents ourselves in a dignified and socially acceptable way. Thus encouraging the exploration of a better way to allow us to present ourselves must always be considered.
However, it matters not-a-jaut if our razor has 3, 6, 10 blades, if we approach our morning ablutions as a nauseating chore. It will show throughout your day and may cost you, your dignity and even your social status, something that decorum demands. The easy solution is not always the best. |

I use a Mach 3 and it seems fine.
I did have a hyper expensive Braun electric thing that had some fancy liquid in it but I could never get the liquid tank thing out to put a new one in. Anyway when I went through a beardy phase last year Mrs Tim decided to throw the electric razors out so it's either clippers to stubble length or that plus a wet shave (done twice in opposite directions).

I've just tried the Phillips thing after not having shaved for a day or two and it is the best electric shave I've ever had. My skin is less irritated than using a wet razor.  Thanks for the recommendation PG. 
I too have a Braun thing that takes cartridges but it irritates the skin as the lotion is alcohol based and I must have dropped it and broke the foil at some point without noticing. I did yelp a bit the next time I came to use it and it has since been consigned to the back of the bathroom cupboard. |

My pleasure. I've found it's hard to find the Nivea moisturiser so ordering it off the Philips web site seems the best solution.
