Renault Alpine Vision

It looks and sounds good, until you get to the estimated start price of 40k...

That's spot on

The quad headlights look a bit contrived and awkward (although I understand it's a nod to the original car), but otherwise I quite like that.

Agreed.  Good basic shape, but it's not as though most people will spot the nod of the headlights and appreciate it.  They look like Chris Barrie's nostrils.  40k not sensible.
Humphrey The Pug

Auto only I believe.

I like it; has a hint of 4C about it, but Renault need to do the whole thing properly; I don't doubt they can produce a great car, it is the dealer experience they need to sort and come away from the discount culture and not piss them out of the door as it will just negatively affect the Alpine brand.

Isn't it just. Love it.

Looks terrible

Front looks like a juke

Rear is too squashed
Martin

I'm not keen on the headlights and the droopy rear end.

40k is sounds OK given the performance, providing they get everything else right.
Michael

I like that. Will have to see what the production version looks like but I hope it isn't changed too much.

Is their any danger of Renault actually producing a new Alpine? I don't think even the new NSX took quite this long to come to fruition. It looks really good but Renault need to commit to it and get to market.
Grampa

Stunning.

According to the article you'll be able to buy one a year from now.
Bob Sacamano

Not a bad effort but about 10k too expensive, unfortunately.
Roadrunner

I like it a lot. Needs to be in blue.
Grampa

The price does slightly raise an eyebrow (of course only estimated at the moment) puts it on par with a Boxster - if this lives up to the write up and makes the most of Renault's chassis skills, I know which I would rather have.
Nelson

Now that a proper good looker and very desirable.

Far too expensive but then I've just read the a BMW M2 will be priced north of 44,000 and still has expensive options.
I must be getting old but if had the amount of money to spend I'd rather spend a little more and have the shove, space and toys of a 535d Touring or similar.

I hope the estimated pricing has been badly inflated because despite how good the chassis and drive will no doubt be if developed by RenaultSport I think this will have already put off many prospective customers.

Alpine brand will always be fondly remembered by the A610 for me - one of my favourite designs, inside and out.
TreVoR

That really isn't a good photo.  I was going to comment in a similar vein to Andy, but looking at the other photos on Autocar, I really like it.  It's only a little more than a Ginetta but the interior looks like it will be a lot more bespoke and a bit less kit car.
PG

I like the look of that and good that its not turned out to be a 100k irrelevance. I suppose Renault think that 40k is very reasonable compared to, an Alfa 4C or an M2. But I reckon that going into a Renault dealer with Renault having no sports car history that most modern buyers are aware of and putting down 40k might be a stretch.

I concur.

it's a no from me,that rear is awful.

I loved the original A110 and I really like that, especially from the front. The back isn't as successful but it's still in the like camp.
