oooh yeah!
Chris M Wanted a V-10

4000 miles? that's not a car, it's an ornament !
PhilD

Lovely (though I don't like the wheels or the chrome around the rear lights) What did Alpina do to the engine?

I Like the other BMW as well;

Big Blue

Those wheels are the winters, I assume, as the other pictures show it with Classics on.
Giant

Is it actually an Alpina Roadster? He doesn't say so. gumtree would seem an odd place to sell such a special car too.

I must admit looking closer I'm doubting it. Not sure what Lump the Alpina RLE had in it but it appears that it shouldn't have an Alpina head on it!

Also if it was an RLE the first thing you'd show a picture of was the little metal plate next to the handbrake, surely.

ETA: it should have the 2.7 C3 2.7 six in it. Been to the Archive and at the time of building Bovensiepen said all the cars should go straight into collections. rare as rocking horse shit.
PhilD

The advert is actually shite.

You're not joking. Looks like it was owned by a builder and used as his van!
TreVoR

I just knew that was going to be at Target Cars. He does a lot of TVRs too.  Going in with eyes wide open is advised when buying from him.
gonnabuildabuggy

I was about to say, who advertises cars like that on Gumtree?
gooner

Indeed it's an odd place to advertise. Maybe he thinks piston heads is for louts, Autotrader is full of scammers and Car and Classic is for old men! Or maybe he just likes Gumtree.
Michael

Now I have Gumtree adverts on the forum.
Big Blue

Still eBay for me.
PhilD

I get whatever I've just been looking at for a while then back to eBay

Me too. Currently got a Letsgo2 holiday banner having clicked on a link in their e-mail earlier today.
Bob Sacamano

Discreet lifts to put inside shoes for me.

The wife's been using my laptop again.
Chris M Wanted a V-10

Still mainly eBay for me, with the occasional John Lewis ad for cameras !

Let's all be glad our banners at work aren't for Sweat&Sperm Love Toys Inc., eh

That guy has been trying to sell that particular Z1 at a wildly optimistic price for quite literally years (I think more than three). It's not an RLE.

I can only assume he sunk a fortune into it and is not keen to make a loss.

But it's a non-standard colour and has been comprehensively fannied-about with, in a market where £30k is top dealer money for an immaculate original low-mileage Z1, the guy is simply dreaming.

Prices do seem a little on the up - the chap who bought my Z1 has already sold it on as he couldn't get on with the LHD. I think he got around £25k for it (as opposed to the £23k he paid me for it a year ago), but on the other hand, the electric doors failed just after he bought it from me (stroke of luck that) so he had to spend a small fortune fixing them. And you also have to factor in that I only paid £17k back in 2010.

£8k in 4/5 years is not bad. I can't recall if you needed to do a lot to it Racing, but if not that's pretty much free motoring.
Chris M Wanted a V-10

BMW467L has been transferred onto a newer grey BMW.
The H-plate on the Z1 may be a decoy to stop people searching for it to steal... or it may just have been SORN'd a long time ago, or he may have bought another "BMW...." plate for it since the photo was taken.

HowManyLeft shows 83 Z1's taxed in 2014, up from 67 in 2013 so either many SORN'd cars were put back on the road or else there's been a slight surge in used imports ???
tali

I think SORN would or should show on Dvla.Oddly another site although failing to find it lists the correct tyre sizes.
TreVoR

SORN would show up on the DVLA.  I suspect it has a personal plate on it at the moment.

Judging by the photos of some of their stock, they buy up cars from other countries that have accidents that leave them undriveable (eg look at the number of RHD cars photographed at the docks) - maybe doing a deal with insurers as the cost of exporting back to the relevany country, repairs plus hire car means that the repairs are uneconomic.  The Z1 looks like a write-off due to the extent of the damage, most panels and major pieces of trim need replacing
