R8 V10 - place your bets0 to 100 mph ?
Sub 9 seconds ? - most definitely
8 seconds ? - hmm, that's pushing it a bit
8.5 sounds about right

Is Hammond driving it?

Guitar Zero

Autocar publish their R8 V10 roadtest tomorrow
Probably 15 seconds if " wank hands " Hammond is driving it

Autocar got 10.5 out of the V8, but I think it was a low mileage example. evo got just under ten. If the LP560 is 7.8, I'm going for 8.8-8.9.
Do I win one if I'm right?
|
Guitar Zero
|
Errrrrrr.
Yeah, o.k
Assuming " win " is another way of saying " have your permission to buy "
|
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

I'll go for 8.6

0 to 150 mph in 20 seconds dead !!! - sheeeeeeeeet that's going some isn't it.
IIRC, an RS6 needs 24.4 seconds to cover the same increment

Yeah but an RS6 is like an R8 towing a caravan.

Good one!

An RS6 is only another 300 kilos
But has an additional 47 bhp and 88 lbs ft (from like 3 rpm)

From memory the RS6 was 2150 kg as tested; I'll be surprised if the R8 is 1850. We could guess that as well I suppose - I reckon as tested will be 1695.
|
Guitar Zero

Quoted weight is circa 1650 kgs for the R8 and 1985 kgs for an RS6

Well, as I say, there's what Audi claims, and what the car really weighs ...
|
Guitar Zero

Which means an R8 should be heavier than quoted as well then

This R8 V10 is like a Veyron in my eyes, a hell of a technological achievment but at the end of the day I have no real desire to own one.

I think the (shelved?) V12 TDI is more of an achievement than the R8 V10...

Yes but then that was a pointless car so doesn't matter how clever it was.

True...

I'll go for 9.0 seconds dead to 100.....and faster than a 911 Turbo on the dry circuit by 1.45 seconds.... *

Nice guess CM - 1700 as tested....1620 quoted

So it was 9.0 dead to 100 mph? Not as quick as I would have thought ...
|

I noted PC on their test commented on how the v10 felt heavier and not as agile as the v8 (yeehaw) ,but have to admit if i lived in a country where you could use such speed I would have one (a v10) tomorrow.

Yep 9 dead, dry, sunny, 18 deg C.
60 in 4.1, whereas Audi quoted 0-62 in 3.9
|
Dr. Hfuhruhurr
|
So about the same as the GT3 (4.2, 9.2), despite an extra 1.6 litres, four cylinders and 100 bhp. Shows what a difference weight makes ...

pc got it there in 8.4 i think, and the gen 2 gt3 in 9.2 so its pretty damn quick.

PC doesn't quote any figures, bar the official 0-62.

Yep, GT2 has only a smidge more power but takes at least a second off that R8 V10

sorry I confused pc with evo ,evo figures not pc figures.

wow, checking the lap times, the v10 is 0.5 seconds quicker on autocars dry circuit and is slower on the wet circuit than the v8.I was not expecting that.

So the new alloys for the V10 are gorgeous and would be a pleasure to clean.
I suppose the acid from my own vomit would do a good job on the brake dust, I thought they were horrendous and actually spoiled the car.
Still love the interior, couldn't give a fig that some of the heater controls were actually shock horror from a lowly TT.

I really like the V10 alloys - even more so having seen them in the ... well, alloy, I guess.

Much prefer the V8's shiny round bits, still it's good to get a choice.
Shat nav looked pretty dire as well, what were they thinking of, the new Clio has a better display than that.
Not that it would be a dealbreaker mind...

Although, interestingly the V8 reached a higher peak speed

I don't recall anyone kicking off because the Gay hard on had Audi climate control and shat nav.
The R8 interior is the nads (although I'd give the carbon trim pack a miss) and I couldn't give a Marmoset's minge that the navigation is one generation out of date. Does it even matter ? - will legions of salesmen be cancelling their orders in disgust ?
I really like the colour of the 07 plate V8 one they've shown in the half price hero section.
I will also add the carbon brakes, extended leather and cruise control.
Nick can have the wheels.

And the carbon engine bay liner £2k, ahem. As for the shat nav, when you can get something superior for £2.50 from Amazon I suspect 'shallow' salesmen types might just do that.
I really like the colour of the 07 plate V8 one they've shown in the half price hero section.
Ditto.
I will also add the carbon brakes, extended leather and cruise control.
Same here.

I notice that the Autocar 'as tested' weight was 1700 Kg. That seems a lot for a coupe, albeit one with a whopper of an engine.
