There is an EVO one, but it is presented by that Dan bloke so I didn't watch it.

The engine spec is incredible.

Just got email from dealer saying they wont have their allocation for a bit.

Did you send them your Downfall video?

My heart told me to,my brain said otherwise.
Tim

I love it.

Would prefer silver wheels though
Nice Guy Eddie

Love it but remains a rather pointless car if a normal punter can't buy one.
Nelson

I'm one the biggest 911 fans, really I am, but I wouldn't want that, in fact the front looks a little worse to me. I think the sweet spot is the GTS unless you want (can afford) the full nutter Turbo S. I see the GT3 as a wee bit pointless, the GTS has more than enough grunt, I'd wait for the GT3 RS replacement. Not the I wouldn't love to drive one, but I think if I was to own one I'd rather take the GTS
Stuntman

If I were ever to own a 911, I would want it to be this one, with a manual gearbox.  Spot on, in my opinion.
Martin

Just watched the Catchpole interview, bit too technical in places for me, but it sounds like it will be fantastic, especially the engine which is very similar to the one in the latest race cars.

Evo says there's no production limit - good if it's true
Stuntman

^^^ But it will only be produced for a limited time, so it's almost certainly not going to be the case that all orders from launch and before a given future date will be fulfilled.

Anyway, I've just built one on the configurator and sent the spec to my local OPC with a covering message, asking nicely about the possibility, however remote, of an allocation...

Good luck, I hope you get one ...

What's your choice of spec? What are the essentials? And the colour?
Martin

I had a look last night and couldn't find it in the configurator?

Click on any 911 ,then click on models on top left, use the scroll down and you will see the gt3.

Production will be around 3000 worldwide so uk will get 3-400

Dealers not given allocation yet ,mine estimates they will get about 13 as they did with last one.
Martin

Thanks. I have the configurator in my favourites, but it's not listed if you access it that way.

125,398 in an acceptable spec and the finance numbers aren't too bad plus  60k residual value after 4 years looks very safe.  But even if I could get one, it would have to be an everyday car to make the man maths work, so it's a non starter.
JohnC

I'll just dream.....and put another line on the lottery.
Nice Guy Eddie

Had a chat with my Porsche Collecting mate this morning. Apparently our local OPC took between 35 and 40 10K deposits yesterday for the car. Once all deposits are in they will then work out who gets a car. That's read as whos the most profitable. Its been hinted that if his GT4 goes back at what he paid for it , it would help his way into a car. Expect then a number of GT4 and Gen1 GT3's to hit the OPC network later this year.

There seems to be some dealers taking deposits and some not, seemingly dependent on what group they are part of.
My opc had 20-30 letters of intent months back and supposedly cut the list down to 13 ,supposedly prioritising  non flippers and people who use the car . and good customers.

I find that rather unpalatable when he is being asked to trade in his GT4 at a price probably 15K/20K less than the market thinks it's worth. It just has to come back and bite them one day.
Nice Guy Eddie

Its one of those funny areas. They have a customer who bought a 918, GT3 RS and got allocated an R and sold the lot too a well known reseller and made a profit of around 800k on the lot. He asked for an allocation for the GT3 but was told that he wasn't in the running and to not bother sending in a deposit.

The dealers are guilty of the flipping as much as the punters but its a practice Ferrari have been involved in for years.
Stuntman

Mine came to just over 123k plus on the road costs, so probably about 126k given the new car taxation.

My OPC called me today; they haven't received their official allocations yet but they said they expect to receive 8 cars in two batches of 4. I was politely told that it was very unlikely that I would be in the running for a car, but 'never say never'. I asked them to add me to their list for the next GT4 if I wasn't on it already.

Assuming you have garage/driveway space and adequate parking arrangements at work, there is absolutely no reason why a well-specified 991.2 GT3 could not be an everyday car.
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

I simply refuse to beg for a car. And you guys should too.
Stuntman

I'm certainly not begging.  I just politely asked the question.  Besides, I have some very lovely steeds to play with and I certainly won't at all feel hard done by!
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

Maybe my definition of begging is wider than yours, but if I see a new car that I like, and I express interest to my dealer, I expect "yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir", not "oh, if you're very lucky, we might manage to get you a slot".

The blame goes all the way up - Porsche for limiting the numbers; the dealers, for playing their silly games; and the customers, for allowing themselves to be taken in.
Stuntman

It's a tricky one if you want one purely from a driving rather than 'investment' perspective, given that Porsche will effectively limit production.

Anyway, I'm more a Caymanista than a Neun-elfer so I'll happily wait for the next GT4 if it's actually a car I would want to swap the current one for.
franki68

Hoping to hear one way or another next day or so.

If not it's a gts ,although I will try a mclaren  570 before committing .

+1 to all that. Not that I can afford one anyway!
franki68

Email from dealer ,they are getting 7 cars this year ,I am on a shortlist of 13
Sales guy says the chief exec of the group is going though the applications deciding who gets based on history etc which is bad news as I have only bought 1 car from them .

On the positive side that means if they get another 7 next year I should hopefully get,but I am now treating it as not going to happen.
PhilD

Is that a nonced-up 991?

Yeah. Great. (Shuffles feet and looks at the floor to avoid eye contact with mentler)

It's ultra nonced-up,picnic table on back ffs
simonp

I'm gonna wait for the RS....
Stuntman

I think the RS is overkill and the GT3 is the sweet spot of the 911 range if you can live with the firmer ride.  Otherwise it's a GTS of some description (4GTS for me).
Martin

2 GTS Manual for me, just add the leather interior and a couple of other options and it's perfect.

Fyp!

A blue Porsche, who'd have one of them?!     Looks good in blue with the grey wheels.
Stuntman

I do really like Sapphire Blue.  If not, I'd choose GT Silver with the same wheels.

My local dealership currently has an 991 GT3 RS and a Carrera GT for sale in the showroom, both in GT Silver.  Lovely!
Roadsterstu

I definitely prefer the blue. My comment was absolutely tongue in cheek!

Forget that, found one.

I used to like Catchpole's but Matt Prior will do nicely.

Dr. Hfuhruhurr

Manual won't be until next year, which sounds to me as if they're trying to put people off. Though the sales guy I spoke to said he'd want a manual. It is an utterly fabulous car up close and personal, I have to say.
franki68

Still no news for me.

But I really want this car badly,AP has come out and said its the greatest road engine they have ever made ..better than the carrera GT .
