Photo hosting

I use Photobucket to host pictures but I've noticed recently that it seems to be very slow, whether it's logging in or taking a couple of minutes to upload a picture.

What does everyone else use (that's free)?
BeN

I use Photobucket too. Seems all right.

Other photo hosting websites include Imageshack and Flickr.

Maybe it's just slow because the computer is doing other stuff but they've changed it so that now rather than getting the links to copy below the picture you have to click on a tab then select the link type you want before copying it.

I think it's always been quite slow at logging in for me.
..

I find Photobucket shower and I seem to have to go through more stages to see my pictures.

I can't remember the sequence of events but I think I have to select "My Home" and "All Albums" or something and then "Just Browse." I'm pretty sure that before it used to just display my pictures without all that mouse clicking.
Tim

It used to go straight into your album.

It also let you pick multiple photos for upload but now you've to piss about holding the control key and selecting more than 1.

It's a backward step and clearly less user friendly
BeN

Indeed. It's far more complicated than it used to be.

But since all my photos are already up there, I can't be arsed to change.

I also find Photobucket slow. Uploading the ice pictures afforded me the time to go and make a cup of tea, and then almost finish drinking it before Photobucket had finished!

Unless you particularly want to store your pictures somewhere, why not just upload them from your PC straight to the forum?
Matt

Photobucket goes straight to my main page and uploads as quick as ever. Odd.
..

The Force is obviously strong with you Matt.

Photobucket is good on my PC, that's what I use.
Matt

I wouldn't buy a current one.

I don't keep my photos on my hard-drive. They're all on an external drive. You can't upload directly from an external drive straight to the forum. Well, I can't, anyway.

There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to upload from an external drive. If you click 'Attach File' then 'Browse' you should get a window which shows a folder on your PC. If you click the 'up a level' button until you can select 'My Computer', you should then be able to see your external drive.

Done that many times, as if it worked it would save me tons of time waiting for Photobucket to do its thing, but it does not download the file from my external.

Hold on - I'll try it again......

Nope - after a minute or so waiting for it to upload the photo, it comes up with an error message that says the file hasn't uploaded.

I tried loading a picture of my cat onto the forum on Tuesday from my hard drive and it wouldn't load up, in the end I had to upload to Photobucket and then copy and past the link.

This is from my external drive:

Dr. Hfuhruhurr

Perhaps you should get it looked at then ...
