Petes' "Name the odd Japanese Import" GameLiving in New Zealand means I see lots of Japanese Imports. I swear 90% of all the cars on the road here are imported from the land of the Rising Sun.
Most of its boring stuff (still stuff I never saw in the UK, but I'm sure noone wants to see what a Nissan Bluebird became after it left the UK market...) but sometimes its worthy of note.
Anyway, saw this the other day, and I've never seen one over here since I drove one at Mega Web in Tokyo, where is was quite good fun!
So, what be this?

Is it one of those Corollas that was called Master G or something like that. Had a 3.5 V6 under the bonnet ...

Yes, well done.
Its a Master Blade G with 275bhp though the front wheels. Something that noone would ever buy in the UK as most people would just have "corolla, corolla, corolla" running thought their heads
Right, now to find the next one, I shall have to make it harder

Plus who would buy a car called Master Blade G? You can just imagine the marketing meeting where they came up with that one ...
Of course, they should have done like Renault and put the V6 behind the driver ...

Im sure you could! But then id have to throw in a few HSV Holdens and FPV Fords
I might have to ask you for ideas to show, as everything that I found odd when I first got here is commonplace now!

Me! I'd love a car called Master Blade G. I also quite like the look of that, esp now I know it's got a 275bhp V6

One for 'G' surely? I'm sure he must have been a Blade Master ( ) at some point in his rich and varied past...

Nice save there Pete.
You were clearly taking a photo of the plumper pushing the pram and managed to turn it into a car question to distract us all.

I seem to recall from many moons ago (the 1980s) that the Japanese are fond of these wacky/funny/stupid names because of how they sound to the japanese ear rather than the meaning of the words.
I assume this is true rather than the alternative - A national taste bypass...

I remember on one of those TV clip programs (probably Tarrant on TV) they showed some Japanese adverts for cans of soft drinks called 'Bum' and 'Sweat', which does suggest that their perception of names is quite different from ours.

I have enjoyed a can of Sweat when I was in Tokyo. It wasnt bad. I also had some drinkable jelly in a can which was lovely.
Theyre naming is quite bad, I remember going to a mall called "ranKing ranQueen" which was a bit odd. Even worse was the couple of paragraphs of Engrish afterwards.
Its fine in Japan though, but when its stuck to stuff and then shipped to an English speaking country the level of "fail" is horrible!
