Opel/Vauxhall Astra-sized SUV

Another scan from the "Auto Bilge" that I bought last month whilst in Germany

I'm assuming it is Kumquat/Kadjar sized?

Has a hint of SEAT about it, apart from that though it looks a tad average.
JohnC

Is that not just a new Mokka?
Chris M Wanted a V-10

No, there is another page devoted to all the SUV models that Opel propose in the next few years; this one (above) is larger than the Mokka which is now known as the Mokka X following its recent facelift.  The images above make it look like a competitor to the Ateca (in my eyes)

A Mokka UP?

A Grande Mocha?
Blarno

Generic as per.
Humphrey The Pug

Vauxhall are taking their time to get in on the larger crossover action.
Giant

Vauxhall have already announced the Astra sized SUV and Large SUV will be launched next year, named Crossland X and Grandland X respectively (terrible names!).
The mid sized SUV market is rapidly reaching saturation with regards number of manufacturers selling them. Will be interesting to see which become/remain the big sellers, I don't imagine current Qashqai buyers did so for the badge so may switch brands come renewal time.
simonp

Don't they already make a bigger one, the name of which escapes me?

I checked the Vauxhall website earlier, it is no longer on there.
Grampa

Not my kind of thing, but it'll fly out of the showrooms.

Wasn't that a Chevrolet or something with a Vauxhall badge on?
PhilD

I miss the Frontera.

You're in a very small club - I do see them still including the other week a 3.2 V6 version.

Must've been removed recently as there are 66 reg ones on AutoTrader.
JohnC

Was it not just a Chevrolet with a badge change?
simonp

Didn't that get asked already?

Didn't Mark look at one as a farm hack?
TreVoR

Nope. Early Fronteras were lousy, but the later ones were actually OK as they were mostly Isuzu bits.
PhilD

Did you not say they are popular though for this purpose?
Frank Bullitt

I remember the 2.3 diesel was good for something like 87mph, it was the 100bhp Isuzu unit used in the Carlton which could barely muster enough punch to get that aerodynamic slippery thing down the road, never mind a pig-iron box . The 2.0 Sport was very popular back in the day (25 years ago!), but they were never really my sort of thing.

Weren't they always Isuzus?
Frank Bullitt

They were

Probably a good project for someone..
TreVoR

Ho ho ho.

I thought the 2.2 was a GM unit (as used in the Bedford CF).
Frank Bullitt

It's an Isuzu unit (and yes, it was used in the CF)
Nelson

I really like that..mature, strong and handsome design
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

Looks like a badly Photoshopped SEAT Ateca

It's Auto Express, that's probably exactly what it is!
