New Scenic

I think Renault have been quite clever with this - they've given it a bit of Qasqai proportions - there might be life left in this sector yet: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news...working%20Extra%20story%20subs%20(23.02.2016)::link4_3&utm_source=20160223

So is it an SUV or an MPV? Or have Renault merged the two (which would be quite clever - the styling of an SUV to attract people with the space of an MPV inside)?

20inch wheels ?

Can you imagine a school run mum on a budget buying one because it's £250 a month on a PCP, and then getting a puncture. That'll be £200 please for a new tyre

Good one Renault !

I suspect the 20" wheels will be a top model fitment.

Merged the two I'd say, which was the point I was trying to make about them being clever with it in the OP.

Looks promising, but I suspect the front three quarter view may be its best, why else only show it from that angle? The wonky window line is interesting. Will be interested to see it from other angles.

Nice of Autocar to give us the same picture twice!
Michael

Looks considerably better than the Megane but also a lot like a Capture. Will be interesting to see it in a more regular spec.
Chris M Wanted a V-10

I just hope that the yellowy gold colour will be available to us in the UK.  A year ago I came so close to buying a Scenic XMOD (eventually ending up with the C-Max) until I found out that this colour had been discontinued on that car :-(

Awaiting more info with interest.....
Frank Bullitt

I do like that
Giant

Unusually, it's very similar to the concept from a couple of years back:

Dreadful name though, I thought F Pace and I Pace were bad, but Arse Pace?!
Humphrey The Pug

Looks good, very much has the look of Captur about it, it'll be interesting to see how it pans out as that sector is shrinking rapidly in favour for the Crossover, however on first impressions this Scenic doesn't look like a traditional people carrier.

I believe there will be no 7 seat version, with an X-Trail type car taking that spot, but then we were also told that the Scenic may not carry on; which was wrong.
Martin

I think it makes a lot of sense too, assuming it has 3 proper seats in the back, otherwise it's not different enough to a small crossover.  Much more appealing than most small MPVs, the C4 Picasso is the only other one I'd consider if I needed that type of car.

Could be marketing genius, all the 'rugged' appeal of a cross over but the space efficiency of the MPV. Renault have reinvented the MPV twice with the Espace and the first Scenic so they have form.
Martin

That reminds me, I saw a new (French Registered) Espace at the weekend, looks really good for a full size MPV.

They did get beaten on the Scenic by both the Nissan Prarie and Mitsubishi Space Runner by over a decade, though!

I like the current C4 Picasso and it's a clever beast that happens to look good - I don't see that MPV's 'have' to be dull, just that they generally got that way. The C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso stop sell very well so there is a market, but it needs clear USP's; the last Scenic had a narrow centre rear seat which meant t was narrower than the C4 Picasso but once you struggle to put a kiddie seat in there then the product has little appeal over the crossovers.
Michael

I think the bigger problem with the last Scenic was it looked utterly tedious.

It was launched when Renault were going through their very average phase; Clio III, Megane III, Scenic III, all capable but extremely dull cars which were all enhanced greatly with successful facelifts but by then it was too late and now the Scenic as it is, is almost 7 years old.

The concept is dull though which is why folks took to SUVs.  They will be cool though once they embrace electric and autonomy.
BeN

Hmm, not bad.
Nelson

yeah, that works well for me too. For the purpose it serves that will do well. I like the detail along the bottom of the doors.

Standard apparently.

There will be a diesel hybrid later on it its life too.
Bob Sacamano

I like the look of that far better than the Captur which is a bit of a "nothing" design.

And likely to be just as similar to the bigger SUV when it also appears (the X-Trail based car)

Disagree. I think the Captur is OK.

Amen!

Michael

I seem to remember making that buy can't think why.
Giant

Because I said the Captur is a bland egg or potato shaped car with all the obvious design features thrown at it, a kind of Mr Potatohead kind of car.
