New Noble - £200k!http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/242566/
Okies, so the performance is going to be monumental, and the handling with get all the mags in a tizz if past form can be counted on (Though how much of that was down to the departed Lee Noble?), but that's a lot of smarties.
Shallow as this comment is, it doesn't look the money, certainly not when compared to a Zonda. Should looks be that important?

...Asked why the firm is abandoning its familiar £50,000-£75,000 price point, Boutwood said, “Demand for the £50,000 British sports car has dried up. We’re pitching the new M600 at a price point of around £200k because we believe that gives the car its
own niche in the market. It’s uncharted territory for us, but we’re confident that the M600 is worthy of it.”
Good luck with that...
The original Noble worked because it was "cheap" and was a bit of a giant killer, I cannot see anyone throwing that kind of money at this at all!

As Skyhook says, the handling prowess of the previous models was largely down to Lee Noble's expertise. Plus it looks like a kitcar, has a Volvo engine, and will cost more than a Ferrari 458. Computer says no.

If i was spending £200k on a car then looks would be very high up the list. You don't blow your own money on a munter generally do you.

Are we still talking about cars here?

Applies to both i guess

I'm not sure about the kitcar moniker. To me it looks bespoke and expensive and, as far as I can tell from the pictures, beautifully finished. That fact that it will be handbuilt and rare is a plus, too - although I don't like the sound of a Volvo pony, either.
But £200k? On the one hand you could argue that it'll be a quarter of the cost of a Veyron with similar performance, but as an F430 Scud/F458 rival it's going to have to be genuinely groundbreaking to justify the price.

But however well it's finished, its styling is utterly "generic mid engined car", in a way that makes you realise why professional designers are so highly paid and prized. This is the problem with so many low-volume makes, in that the people in charge think they can and should do everything, even if they don't really have the skill. Far better to offer a placement to a student from the Coventry or RCA car design courses.

It does look well made, at least from the pics. Having a blown Vulva under the bonnet wouldn't particularly bother me but the styling is a tad bland. Nothing like the presence of a Zonda or indeed the new Italia.
Still, the group test could be interesting.

I'd have it over a Ferrari.
But not at 200 large.

The fact that Sutcliffe reckons he'd trade in an F40 for one makes me think we should wait for the full test. This could be an epic car.

Preciseley the phrase I was looking for to describe its looks.

But even if it is, I have the same problem with this as with the Corvette ZR1, namely that no matter how insanely fast it is, or how many lateral G it'll pull in corners, I don't feel even the slightest stirring of desire for it. Which is kind of important in a car that costs that much.

Feck the Fezzerino - what about the Murcielago SV - that's circa 200,000 spoons isn't it ?
Hmmm, spunky wop hotness with the bestest engine ever
Or a Nob LE ?
Decisions, decisions

Oh, I know exactly where you're coming from with the Corvette. But Noble has the aura of talented, plucky underdog for me, a sort of arriviste Lotus-u-like with sights set higher; in this case, much higher. I quite like the looks, too. I really hope it's a cracker.

See Morgan. Aeromax was a final year project by a Cov student.

Jumped the shark and it nicked Fonz's wallet whilst he did it.

You get better interiors on an audi TT/ cayman etc etc
Ferrari 458 Italia or a Noble... hmmmmm let me think?
Sell an F40 for one.... don't think so, what a stupid remark to make.
These will not sell to the people who can afford to buy their one dream car, they are going to go to those who can afford a number of cars and fancy something different.

Given that all we've seen is a photo or two of a preproduction model, it seems a little previous to be so critical. You may end up being right, but it seems we've all made our minds up already with this one. And the person who would duck an F40 in for one has at least driven both.
We'll see in due course.

I couldn't afford one at any price, so it's all academic to me.
If the M12 is anything to go by, this will be absolutely batshit crazy to drive.

I only drove the M10 which IMVHO was inferior to the Elise despite Lee Noble's view. I had a spirited drive in my Boxster behind an M12 years ago and I have to say that he was in the way and when we came to a junction he was all screaming tyres and waggling tail whilst I caused no drama what so ever. I've since suspected that they're not as good as I'd think.

I drove an M12 and an Exige back to back and the M12 pissed hot snot all over the Exige. It was much, much faster and I felt much more of a driving god behind the wheel, depsite only being 21 at the time. Barring the Diablo I also drove that day, my fastest lap time was in the M12 and I wasn't that much quicker in the Diablo.

Maybe the guy I was playing with just couldn't drive. I've never driven on a track and I doubt I ever will, I prefer handling and feedback to outright speed.

I'd contend that those are two very good reasons for losing your trackday cherry.

Zonda show that this can be done.
But 99% of the time, the company concerned crashes and burns. If I were a Dragon, I would not be in!

Based on what I’ve read so far (not to mention the F40 sell), I’m absolutely sure it will be very, very good.
But, my £200k (if I had to spend such an amount on a car) would go in the direction of a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

I hope it / they do well.
Why is Noble no longer on the scene? A new venture on the cards maybe?
12th - I'd probably just show myself up.

Unless you are utterly hamfisted, I doubt it. The aim is to enjoy yourself, not attract the attention of McLaren's spotters. Go on...

Apparently, he had a disagreement with his co-owner so he sold his shares in the company and left.
