I used Car wow to enquire about Jeep GC deals after someone suggested them.

Best deal is 20% off. Quite amazing.

That's what I got off the 440...
Michael

Is that including the 5k deposit contribution for taking it out on Jeep finance?

Hadn't realised it was that much.

Off to the dealers again perhaps this weekend.

Remember that even with discount a modestly specced 440i is going to be mid to high 30K's but with discount buying new will get you a car to your spec for the same price as most of the recent newish used cars on BMW's site and you will get a better interest rate on the new ones.

It is only when the car is c 6mths old that the savings start to kick in e.g.

But you would need to get your own finance because BMW are 10.9% apr on used cars - they will usually come down to near 5% apr which is pretty reasonable but you need to beat them with a big stick. If not HP with someone like Lombard would be c5% if everything else stacks up or if you have some cash you can add a 15K personal loan from someone like M&S with 3.8% apr. Don't get too hung up on apr's at the 4% to 5% level because the difference in 's between 4.5% apr and 5.5% apr on 15,000 is about 6.50 a month over 3 years. However at 10% apr the additional interest is nearer 30/mth.

Even if it was free, I wouldn't want it

I remember when the Cherokee hit the UK and they had class leading residuals as the world and his dog wanted one (very similar to the Shogun effect in the late 80s).

Cheep Jeeps are microwaved Fiat tat these days aren't they ? and Cherokees are super munters.

Way to go.

Unsurprisingly, I used to have a Cherokee - a six cylinder 160bhp 4 litre. It was a shed (again, no surprise there) but I loved it.

My family had two Shoguns in the late 80s. A D-reg SWB and then a F-reg LWB which was stolen for a ram raid and written off.  They held their value ridiculously well.
