Modern classics.

Tempted to look at unmolested E30s currently. Useable and reasonable value retention outlook.

Anyone else so minded?

I've seen a couple of those that have had the 'Euro look' applied - lowered to the floor, crazy negative camber, skinny tyres stretched across wide wheels.

They were both 4 pot autos too.

Isn't rust likely to be an issue on them?

When it comes to E30s, I'd want a 325i Touring.

Used to own an E30; red 318i 5dr, I absolutely loved it until it developed an intermittent fault in the ECU.

Probably the only car that I actually miss.

They do like to rust around the rear arches, but they aren't too bad overall.

Money to be made in unmodifying them, but you need one that's not lowered ideally.

I did OK on my E30 320i Cab, swapped the wheels back the original BBS's (they came with the car but not fitted), flogged the repro wheels (can't remember what they were) and sold it 18 months later for a 50% profit.

Nice car but with the auto box it was underpowered.

Good investments I'd say.

So,

Buy this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1992-BM...CABRIOLET-E30-OFFERS/361587688149

Tart it up and then sell it for closer to this

This is interesting considering I sold my 320i for 2800 about 6 yrs (no idea in truth) ago - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excelle...000-FSH-WARRANTY-INC/272268743229

Here's a 325i that could be good value but needs 1K or so spending on it

Reasonable value but an Auto - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-320...-1987-Time-warp-SWOP/191903863639

Don't they have firewall rust issues as well or is that just the E30 M3s?

I had my E30 318i Cabrio in Laguna Green/black leather and BBS - I bought for 1800 and sold for 3000 to put into the 911. I would love another but 325i Cab in dark metallic - unmolested cars are going up price wise

Mine was free of rust issue but there are a lot of Dogs out there

These are the ones to have and they felt really gutsy at the time. My friend had a genuine 325i Sport which was pristine but it fell victim to a burst river bank one winter and was written off. We had many happy miles in that car, a lot of them sideways but all with a smile.

now is the time to buy!

Economic uncertainty means the "summer fun" type cars aren't going to be bought, whilst the "investment cars" probably will be.

This caught my eye.

I've always like the E30 325i Touring.

Mainly because I always wanted to drop a 535i six or 540i V8 in one.
