Minor bump

Other than driving into my mates on purpose when we owned shit cars, and crashing the Clio at Oulton park, I've never made contact with another car in the last 17 years. That changed 2 weeks ago when I was driving home and an old dear wandered into my lane on a roundabout. Nothing high speed, more of a BTCC style nudge - I had nowhere to go to my left so I had to suck it up.

No major damage, but ruined an otherwise mint car and managed to stretch the metalwork over the impact beam quite significantly. Not bad for a low speed rub from a Skoda Fabia. The old dear who hit me was very visibly shaken by what happened and was initially wary of me when I got out of the car - a 6 foot tall man with a wizard beard and wearing shorts in 5 degrees weather will probably do that to some people - but I told her I wasn't angry and that these things happen. She was very apologetic and offered to pay for the damage without going through insurance - details were swapped and away we went in our separate directions. After a few bodyshop quotes of 500+, not including a courtesy car, I tried a Liverpool-based dent removal company who have repaired wheels for us at work previously. They quoted me 240 all in for a one day turnaround. Job done. Dropped my car off at 8AM on Thursday and needed to get into work - a nice 8 mile trek from the city centre to the airport. They very kindly gave me their van, sent me on my way and I was in work for about 8.40. Got a phonecall at 2.30 telling me the car was ready! 6 hours! Can't fault that.

Clearly an attempt to adopt Insignia styling.
Blarno

A failed attempt at that.
PG

That's a very tidy repair for 240.
Blarno

I can't fault it. Both doors blended in as well.

Decent of you to get a cheaper quote really. My wife scraped the rear bumper of a Puma a couple of years back (paintwork scratched with no physical damage) and the buggers who owned it stiffed our insurance company for a fully resprayed new bumper and four days courtesy car. The claim was over 2 grand in the end! That old dear should be grateful for your honesty.

Looks like a really good job and excellent value for money.

More successful than Vauxhall managed.

The last thing I will ever do is rip good people off. Accidents happen and minor losses of concentration should not be punished. They may well have agreed to paying the 500+ for a bodyshop repair, but I'd want somebody else to go for the money saving option if the shoe were on the other foot.

Don't suppose they're one of these national franchise type deals, are they? Mrs P has dinged her car on a broken fence post and we could do with having it repaired, preferably cheaply...

It's not so much that Blarno is decent (though he is!), but that a lot of people are arseholes.

Last summer, a skip was on next doors drive and when it was lifted, a load of stuff fell out and damaged my car. This is what greeted me when i got home from work.

The skip company refused to pay at first, so I blew my top and  asked how their dickhead driver didn't see/hear the stuff falling off, and also why it wasn't covered (the answer was it was overfilled. cunts.) They finally gave me cash to get it repaired .  I found a local mobile company who did all on my drive, and did a great job and were much cheaper than the local bodyshop. I don't have a pic of after, but you can't tell there was ever any damage.

Ta very much. I shall see what they can do.

That was a bust. Says they're nationwide on the website, but they are an awful long way from that, unless nationwide means "we're in Liverpool and Surrey, but if you live anywhere in the UK you can come to either one"?

Anyhow, I phoned a local car dealership and asked who they got to do their smart repairs and he did the Mokka's bumper scrape and machine polished my door scuff for 110. Really pleased with the results.
