Unfortunately not. Just hiring for the day from The SL Shop.

Had not heard of this place.  Seems reasonable, can see a birthday treat here!

Very nice. I hope the weather is kind and it's a 500!

Good idea. The "Charlie's Angels SL" as it was known to me and a few friends back in the day, although it could have been the "Hart to Hart SL" as well.
Martin

I hope the weather is kind to you and have a great day!

Lovely,

My aunt had these when I was younger - absolutely loved it as a kid.

She was quite eclectic with cars - had a few lovely cars like the Mercs and a Lister Jag but then went through a period of having numerous 2CVs - the most memorable being bright green called 'froggy' (with associated frog decals!)

Last time I saw her she'd just swapped out of an MX5 into a Kia but was waiting on some other car to arrive - very odd!

I like the SL and looks a great treat

I also scored 3190 on the Car Game in entertainment on the site if there are any challengers?

4588.
That's harder than it looks.
Martin

4308 after 4 attempts, it is pretty hard!
Martin

Had to have a 5th go!  Once you've got the hang of it, it's not that difficult, just got onto level 5 with a score of 16,832 before I got a bit bored and cocky!

It would be fairly easy to do a lot better than that if you've got the patience, but it each level is too similar.

It's a 420 (slight clue in the thread title...). There was a choice between an early 450, or a later 300 or 420. I decided that, however much I like a straight six, a V8 would tickle me more and the later 420 would be better than the earlier 450, although I would probably be happy either way.

Yes, there was a big clue in the title!
Plenty of rumble and go in a 420.

Look forward to some pics and a write up.

Full write up will follow later. A couple of photos for now:

It was a very enjoyable drive and very much how I expected it to be. A wafty cruiser which can go when prodded, with a superb V8 soundtrack.

Foxy!

List of colours I'd have my R107 in:

1 - Black
2-  Light blue/silver
3 - Dark blue
4 - Silver
5 - White
6 - Red
7 - any colour that's not cream
8 - Cream

Still looks great though and interested to hear how "modern" it felt to drive.

My Stepdad has a LHD 280SL R107 in silver, with blue leather.

Not my cup of tea, but a nice bus.

Do I admit it or not?
OK then, I had a massive crush on a teacher at school who drove one of these at a time when the car probably cost about three or four times her salary. She was (in my teenage eyes) stunning, under 30 and quite obviously married to someone with loads of cash!
I can't remember what engine hers had but it was blue metallic with a light coloured interior.
I've always had a soft spot for these for obvious reasons.

These are my mother's favourite cars.
Tim

I've only passengered in one and was impressed by its waftiness.
