Mentalist!

There's a bloke that's been on the BMW and Alpina forums after a B10 Touring for some months. Recently he bought one, a V8S so a very rare one at that.

On Tuesday the 14th he started this thread:

http://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17951&start=0

and today he started this thread:

http://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17963

So he's either a non-tax-paying; non-warranty-giving dealer or the most fickle cunt on the planet. The choice is yours....
Michael

Or he's discovered a major bill looming?

"The price will be 13,000 which is what the car will owe me after the detail and a few other bits."

Only dealers talk about what cars "owe them".

We must have a few dealers on here then.

His original thread does say

"A small spanner in the works for me is that having recently been in an E60 M5, I am now considering changing the Aplina for an E60 M5 Touring! I'll make up my mind eventually!"

Which is what he claims to be replacing the Alpina with.

As someone who loves his present car but realises it's not actually the right car for me right now I can understand the swap.

Fine but during the "much searching, bargaining, persuading, and negotiating" did he not think about alternatives and maybe have a test drive?
Bryan M

Maybe the thrill for him was in the chase of wanting a rare car - once he has it he is after the next one?

Ah, of course. I hadn't about the rarity of the e60 estate
gooner

I'd be interested to hear from Drew as to what Zion paid him for it a few weeks ago. He might be a bit miffed if it was considerably below 13,000!
Martin

Maybe it's the thrill of the chase, maybe he'd built it up to be something so special in his head, that it's a disappointment?

They say you should never meet your hero.

Can't imagine there are too many M5 estates?

That's what I meant. I'd assumed there would be plenty of e60 M5 estates but a quick google reveals a 20:1 ratio

There was an Interlagos Blue M5 Touring parked next to my car on Monday when I went to collect it from Battersea BMW after its first service. I was momentarily nostalgic!
Big Blue

Is that BMW Park Lane in Battersea? In the middle of the soon-to-be World-Embassies theme park?
Racing Teatray

No, That's BMW Park Lane in Nine Elms. Used to go there but now that we are in Fulham, their other service centre in Stewarts Road, Battersea is closer.
Big Blue

Ah!

I need a new bonnet badge as mine has de-laminated. Nine Elms shall be the dealer of choice as I can just drop in.

Ta.
Racing Teatray

The two are but 5 mins drive apart. Stewarts Road has their "Classic" workshop so prob better for older models. They were surprisingly knowledgeable on the Z1.
PhilD

I see the lot of one of them from my train each day, but sadly it's usually full of 1 Series.

He's a mentalist for paying 13k for that in the first place.

Why are these so expensive ? - it's an SE spec E39 with extras that will suffer the exact same issues that affect all other E39s.

13k is getting close to very tidy E39 M5 territory.

Because there isn't, and never will be, a forum dedicated to SE spec E39s.

I hope.

Please god tell me there isn't.
